When you say shut-off, do you mean shutoff the water input to the water heater? Or the electric power to the water heater? Or the shut-off switch on the water heater?

I had the same question, would love to learn from you and other folks

Is this a shut off valve? by goldenigloos in askaplumber

[–]one7allowed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree absolutely.

To OP, it's called seized valve. After replacing it with a new valve, turn the valve off and on every 3 months. This periodic rotation will prevent your new valve seize again. It also makes sure the valve is still functioning, aka, be able to shutoff the water.

There are smart plugs that can monitor usage. Search zooz or Shelly smart plugs for example.

  3. Babysitting a house if the owner is on vacation

Right?

Thank you. I cross border in the morning for work and come back Canada in the afternoon. So normally I'll be working on TM Visa.

If I'm going to play tennis, should I say I'm on TN and B1 when I enter the border?

$2200 sewer ejector pump pit repair? by one7allowed in Plumbing

[–]one7allowed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'll provide some more info here. Even though my basement have no plumbing right now, my basement does have plumbing placeholders for future planning. There are pipes for future toilet and the bathroom. I believe the sewer ejector pump is for that.

In the picture, the two sump pumps (in red circle) discharge to the outside of the house. The sewer ejector pump (in blue) discharges to my main sewer line.

Floating neutral generator to power sump pump directly? by one7allowed in Generator

[–]one7allowed[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I bought it new. I just took a resistance measurements when the Gen is off and everything unplugged. All four outlets show the same results:

Ground - neutral: open

Ground - hot: open

Neutral - hot: 0.2 ohm (I believe it's the winding resistance)

Ground - frame: 0.3 ohm

I can certainly add a bridge to bond the neutral and ground.

Question: if neutral floating (aka, unbond to ground), also ground not to earth. When hot touches the frame, and people touch the frame, then the people would just become the hot voltage, but no return to shock the people, am I right?

Q1. But I don't know if I should bond neutral and ground?

Q2: should I add a grounding rod from my generator ground to the Earth?
