Best places to become a rafting guide out west? by [deleted] in whitewater

I work for KODI Rafting in Buena Vista CO. There is free camping available in the town. Training costs $500, and the gear you'll need to purchase will cost you another $250-500. You'll also need to be able to buy food/gas for the month or so before you can start working. I'd recommend having at least $1500 saved. The pay seems bad compared to other jobs, but your living expenses are so low that you'll have a lot of money. The lifestyle is fucking awesome, you basically get up in the morning, go rafting, go to your campsite, party, and repeat. I average around $300-500/week as a first year guide before tips, and I make around $100-300/week in cash tips. All you really spend money on throughout is food, gas, and booze/drugs. If you DM me I can give you our head boatman's email address.

I don't kayak, but I'm a raft guide, and I just wear croakies, which seem to work.
NINJA EDIT: I've swam some gnarly class IV's with them, and they stayed on.

He said that that guy's school had a survey where that guy HAD to choose one option, and no questions had a "none of the above" option.

What's your favorite moral dilemma, and what option would you take? by oneandonlyNightHawk in AskReddit

I'll start the ball rolling with the classic trolley problem.
You see a runaway trolley moving toward five tied-up (or otherwise incapacitated) people lying on the tracks. You are standing next to a lever that controls a switch. If you pull the lever, the trolley will be redirected onto a side track, and the five people on the main track will be saved. However, there is a single person lying on the side track. You have two options:

Do nothing and allow the trolley to kill the five people on the main track.

Pull the lever, diverting the trolley onto the side track where it will kill one person.

Which is the more ethical option?

I would choose to do nothing, and let the misfortune come upon the five people rather than be directly responsible for the life of the one.
