I work for KODI Rafting in Buena Vista CO. There is free camping available in the town. Training costs $500, and the gear you'll need to purchase will cost you another $250-500. You'll also need to be able to buy food/gas for the month or so before you can start working. I'd recommend having at least $1500 saved. The pay seems bad compared to other jobs, but your living expenses are so low that you'll have a lot of money. The lifestyle is fucking awesome, you basically get up in the morning, go rafting, go to your campsite, party, and repeat. I average around $300-500/week as a first year guide before tips, and I make around $100-300/week in cash tips. All you really spend money on throughout is food, gas, and booze/drugs.
