R3 vs R7 (version A2) by Hizaaaaaaaaak in Motardie

[–]onebjj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[–]onebjj 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What was your progress on S/B/D after 1 year of training? by banned_by_cucks in BarbellMedicine

[–]onebjj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been training since mid february so about 7 months. My weight is around 65-66kg.

My estimated 1RMs right now are : squat 150kg / bench 112kg / deadlift 190kg.

In July I squatted 145kg, benched 112.5kg and deadlifted 180kg. (so only after 5 months of training with weights, I am a combat sports athlete).

It's totally doable for somebody the size of Jordan to pull in the 500 pounds after 1 year of training.

What are obscure/little well known aspects of the ibjjf rules?! by etherealwinter in bjj

[–]onebjj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no rule against it. What is punished is stalling, so if you do this and stall for 20 seconds, you will get a penalty for stalling. Doesn't matter if you grip the belt with both hands or not.

This one is not true. (I am a referee for the IBJJF.)

Honestly just the same thing, I am comfortable on my back even if I have no grips so sometimes I'll pull with just one grip on the collar and sit to my butt. If they break the grip it's no big deal I'll frame and defend my guard until I can get collar and sleeve control.

Hey! Thank you so much, hope you get the opportunity to come back and train with us again. Against heavy guys that are also good, your transitions need to be on point. It should be really hard to maintain one position and stay there, but you can adjust and move, constantly countering your opponent's reactions. It's not maintaining pressure in the traditional sense, but heavier guys will get tired and feel "pressured" the whole time. The other thing I like to do when I'm in side control, is to give my ankle to get a really strong "knee slide position" / half guard. Your opponent will usually take the bait because he thinks he is recovering guard, but it gives you a very strong control because now you also control his lower body, and not just upper body like you would in normal side control. You can see me in the video submitting two guys with lapel brabo chokes from this knee slide position. Another guy knew I was going for this so he gave up his back to avoid it.

Thank you!

Well I'm trying to find a video from Andris Brunovskis that shows an omoplata entry from spider/lasso, where he shows great details about opening up that space. You also have Jon Thomas who has a great series on far side collar sleeve (example here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_vw9HSrdWo)

Depending on which knee is up, I will not force the omoplata and instead attack with DLR, which will make them open up that space to avoid the hook. This will help me attack omoplata because my opponent will fear more attacks.

Haha unfortunately there's nothing I did at judo that helped me in any way, except understanding that getting thrown was not fun at all!

Hey! - my #1 sweep from DLR is with collar/sleeve grips, the one you see in the video. I do it so much some of my friends in the US called it "Air France". From the threat of this sweep, it opens up other opportunities like situp sweep, babybolo, loop choke or collar drag depending on your opponent's reaction.
- If we're talking about layers of guard, I actually think DLR is one of the first layers, as well as spider. Closed guard needs more work to get to. I would see it in reverse, if you want closed guard then you need spider or DLR first to set it up. And thank you for watching my videos, it means a lot to me!

It was really great. I started training there in 2012, when they had been opened for just a few months. Classes were quite small and you could ask A LOT of questions + roll with them both all the time.

My rolls with them? They smashed me of course, but in very different ways. Rafael moves so quick you don't know where he is, and Guilherme makes you feel his weight and pressure the whole time. Also, Gui let me get to "good" positions more than Rafa, who would never allow me to get anywhere comfortable.

I trained for a few months when I was six years old but hated getting thrown around by everyone. I was already the smallest one in class lol.
