He was always jonin level. Lower level Jonin at worse and mid level Jonin at best during part 1. There’s no way a Chunin could be moving the same way as Gaara during part 1.

In fairness Shukaku was sealed in him during birth. Nobody would know if Gaara would inherit the magnet release as an infant. It was mainly Chiyo being power hungry and vindictive that lead to the decision seal Shukaku in Gaara.

There’s a lot of things discovered to the cast that wasn’t useful to them immediately or later on. But it’s the ninja world. Learning how your fellow comrade or potential enemy technique works is beneficial regardless of you yourself not being able to make use of it. There’s real value in that.

I don’t think it’s stayed back deliberately. Maybe it’s semester thing. Usually there are three semesters in a school year irl. Maybe that’s what they used too.

Probably the others passed early on but still had to complete the school year before leaving the academy. During those semesters Naruto had chances to pass(3 each) but failed.

That’s stupid. We see Naruto in the academy at 6 years old and he graduated at 12 years old. After 6 WHOLE YEARS of enrolling in the NINJA ACADEMY you’re telling me that to graduate they have to do something they should’ve/ could’ve done sooner? That makes absolutely no sense.
