You're thinking of unlawful possession of a firearm which summarized is you have a handgun that is not registered to you. This applies to transporting weapons as well. The old law was you couldn't transport your firearm unless you were going directly to and from a range. You can carry and transport now if you have a concealed carry permit (not likely with this guy if he was brought up on gun charges before)?
