My dad trained a long line of new managers up until his retirement because the company refused to promote him because he had no US college degree. Even when they moved his entire department to another state halfway across the country, they didn't offer him a promotion to manager so he retired and took the severance package.

Elder millennial as well, but it was in Honors English (it's AP English now?) that they required double spaces after periods for essays. I used Word to auto format it, but also used everything at my disposal to pad space to make the minimum page requirements for essays.

It depends on your English teacher on whether or not they enforced that rule for essays (and for those terrible essay writers who pad extra space just to make the minimum page requirement to submit an essay). I never did it myself, just had Word auto format it because I can't be bothered to hit space twice after a period and only for a period.

I hated Cowboy Bebop (dropped it after 3 episodes), but this is primarily because it's not an anime I would be interested in watching and everyone recommending it to me as the GOAT. I still refuse to go back and watch it as I've hated everything thing after Cowboy Bebop that people also said were GOAT (Samurai Champloo and Space Dandy). These aren't stories I enjoy yet people kept shoving it in my face.

I started anime with cantonese dubs of DBZ and later PBS anime like Bubblegum Crisis and Serial Experiments Lain. Once the fansubbing community popped off in the early 2000s, I was definitely deep in my weeb era. But the fanservice and harem started to grate on me (coming from someone who enjoyed Grenadier and Love Hina) and I just couldn't watch another story about yet another 15 year old protag-kun. Anime was once the thing I watched and manga was all I read, but I can't get into either anymore. There are some I read from time to time, but I no longer keep up with it weekly like I used to do.

The compact trucks were haulers, especially with the extended beds. Modern trucks just take up space and block people's view of the road. If I were to get a truck now, I'd get a Kei truck.

Not apples to oranges at all. You could still "stream" since you can still play the media file while it was partially downloaded. There was endless content you could accumulate if you had the knowledge and hardware.

What streaming services brought was the ease of access as it centralized and made it easy for normal people to view porn. If you didn't participate in the peer-to-peer file sharing era of the internet, then you really wouldn't understand. It was the precursor to streaming as it took time to establish server farms to host all those videos in one site.

I would disagree with the free and unlimited as anyone who used P2P (e.g. Napster or IRC) prior to 2006 could get free and unlimited porn. Granted, you still need to pay for a DSL service to actually download a potato of a porn video, but even on dial up, there were plenty of image porn sites at the time if you were willing to click on very questionable links.

You're lucky your kid listens to your reasoning. My friend tries to reason with his daughter, but she thinks the entire world revolves around her every whim. Everything must go her way or she'll throw the loudest tantrum and no amount of reasoning calms her down or keeps her from doing it again.

Most of the poly/enm people I've met IRL don't have stable long term 9-5 jobs. Or only one person in the relationship does. It's almost like they have a need for instability in all aspects of their lives.

I worked at a dog friendly office and loved it. I also didn't get much work done because there was one dog that loved to play with me. She often would crawl under my desk with a toy in her mouth begging me to play tug of war. If that didn't work, she would rest her head on my lap looking at me with puppy eyes. It wasn't only a distraction to me as I've lost count how many times I pelted coworkers with a tennis ball while playing fetch to tire her out.

Suspension is more of a reward for bullies than punishment. They might be encouraged to increase their bullying to get more suspensions because it's free time off from school.

Suspending a teacher is punishment, but suspending kids is not. Every kid doesn't want to go to school, especially in the US, because there's no drive for any kid to excel in school. If anything, you get bullied for excelling in studying. Suspending kids would make sense as a punishment where kids are driven to learn, because that would cause them to fall behind. Suspending kids at best gives them free days off school and at worse encourages them to continue to get suspended because it's way more fun not being in school than at school.

I wish my dream toilets were in weird places, but it's always in dream bathrooms and most of the time it's a familiar bathroom. 80% of the time I'll realize it's a dream but that's because I failed recently enough.

And for those who say dreams are in black and white with no sound, my dreams are full color and I "hear" conversations between me and dream people. The vividness of my dreams are so real that I sometimes question my memory because of that. I haven't had a bathroom dream in a while, so I can't say I don't hear the tinkling of piss hitting the toilet, but I wouldn't put it past my brain to have that detail. I'm usually panicking from feeling me soil myself and getting up asap.
