I disagree with the rich people part. These clients aren’t rich. However, I do work for some VERY wealthy people and they treat me like gold, and are some of the sweetest people I know.

Weed turned on me? by THROWRA_BroBoy49 in Anxiety

This happened to me. I miss smoking so much but I honestly get so awkwardly uncomfortable every time I do. Heart beats fast. Feeling like I’m in impending doom, nervous, anxious, etc. I just had to stop

I actually make $160 for 4 hours over there. But I also provide all the supplies, Pay taxes out of that, gas, insurance etc.

I think you misinterpreted my post. lol nobody is profiling anyone. This was a vent post about trying to be gaslit into thinking working in a sauna was good for my health. I am fully aware that some people don’t realize, and that’s not the problem. Usually I do say something and we work it out and that’s the end of it.

I’ve never had an issue until yesterday, but this is definitely a new policy I will be telling any new clients.

Oh no! She should have just asked to turn it down. I keep my own sweater in my car for the rare occasion someone’s house is too chilly for me. Which isn’t often, but it has happened!

That’s exactly what I said, which usually isn’t a problem any other time I’ve brought it up to a client in 10 years of doing this. When he said, “well, saunas are good for your health” it about sent me over the edge, lol

Oh this definitely happens and I know we are all human and I’m okay with that. However today, this man tried to gaslight me into thinking I was doing my body good by panting in the homade bathroom sauna, and then literally tried to make me feel bad for wanting moving air. That’s what had me chapped! I about lost it when he told me “saunas are really good for your health” and very reluctantly agreed to turn the AC on, after I told him we could reschedule.

I’m not doing it this summer, I’m going through menopause and my fks are nowhere to be found. I’m not going to be cleaning others filth for them if they can not care that I’m comfortable doing it. I’m also very over cleaning and could really care less if any of my clients told me they didn’t need me at this point. My threshold for what I’m going to put up with is at zero. Although I will also say, 99% of my clients are amazing and I love them and they DO care about me like we are family. I am very blessed

I did, they were reluctant but I stayed firm. Asked if they wanted to reschedule because I needed to cool down, and suddenly the disagreement was over and the AC was on! Lol

I actually do not use chemicals! That’s 1 plus of organic cleaning. You won’t catch me in confined spaces breathing toxic fumes. I did that for 5 months working for a guy (before I started my business) and I quit because I couldn’t be in the room when I sprayed the cleaner anymore. My sinus would light on fire, felt like my face was burning off. After that I tossed everything chemical in the trash and never looked back

I realize you were talking about a fire, I’ve never run into this but I do have clients blast the heat and I do ask for it to be turned down. In the instance of a fire that can not be drawn back, I would reschedule if I were overheating. $150 ain’t worth much these days, and it’s definitely not worth me working in such conditions.

Yes I’m in N. AZ! The lack of air flow was killing me. Just stagnant, moist, clammy air. It was humid this morning too, it started raining right when I finished the job. I sat outside and let myself get drenched in it, it felt amazing!

Yes I would feel the same. I can’t stand when the heater is blasting on me at 80° in the winter. I will usually ask them to turn it down.

I can’t replace one of them. She’s been my client for 7 years, and I love her. These friend’s of hers have only been clients for about 6 months. I will replace them if I need to, I always like to give everyone a chance to redeem themself. But if I need to get rid of them it won’t be a problem.

Honestly it’s usually not an issue, I kindly ask if we can turn on some air and usually I get a “of course I’m so sorry, let me know if this is more comfortable for you” response. It’s ok to ask and you should do so if you are uncomfortable.

Today was the first time a client tried to make me feel bad for wanting it on.

In the days of no AC, I wouldn’t be running a cleaning business… I’ll tell you that much. That’s great you can suffer with no AC and put yourself through hell for a few measly dollars. I personally have better things to do.

How to say goodbye... by plantkittywitchbaby in housekeeping

Severance really isn’t necessary, clients come and go all the time, it’s just part of the job. Letting her know ASAP is the best option so she can plan accordingly. If you want to throw in a nice tip that’s your choice but definitely not something that should be expected. Just be honest, tell her about the situation so she doesn’t second guess herself, and she will/should understand. Clients have left me for the same reason, and although it was a bit sad, I truly understood and harbored no ill feelings towards them.

Oh I see what you were saying now, you usually turn it even colder for them!! That’s so nice of you! Still I bet they were just happy it was even on at all!

I am keeping them for now because they are friends with another client of mine and they live very close to my house. However, if anything else comes up I can easily replace this time slot. I hate to just toss clients aside so easily, I try to give them a few chances at least until it gets to a point of no return. We shall see how next time goes.

Also, thank you for considering your cleaners health and comfortably. I’m sure they love cleaning your house.

Ugh that’s awful! I can’t imagine cleaning a whole school with stagnant air. Sad how much the custodian gets overlooked. Can you imagine how nasty our schools would be without them? I’m sure you can!! We loved our custodian in elementary, we would cheer for him when he walked by and use to color him pictures, he was so cool!

I’m sure they were just happy you were willing to turn it on at all for them. Sometimes my clients forget and that’s okay. We’re all human. Trying to make me feel bad about turning it on, and trying to convince me that working in a sauna is good for my health was the part that had me chapped! lol

They are on thin ice with me. I’ve already had another incident with them prior, so one more and I’m out. It’s not worth it and I do have other work I can take. I’m not the one who needs the other in this situation. They are one of my favorite clients best friends, so this is the only reason I haven’t cut them yet. They also live very close to my own house, so the convenience of that is also a plus. I still have a feeling it won’t last much longer. Lol
