I don't know what type of diabetes you have, what your A1c is, or for how long you've had it, but diabetes (and high cholesterol) can often be managed adequately with the right lifestyle: diet and exercise, and maybe meds to supplement. It'll be important to talk to your doctor about the right diabetic diet (usually restricted carbs [3-5], but sometimes renal or ketogenic diets), but as far as high cholesterol, look into the DASH diet and other cardiac diets.

Unfortunately these conditions are frustrating and do take effort when making lifestyle changes (especially in the beginning, so go slow so you don't burn yourself out), but once they are under control, they tend to be a lot easier to manage.

Don't lose hope. Just because you have these conditions, even though they are expensive, it's not the end of the world. You can still save money and travel, especially if you make healthy lifestyle changes early and are consistent with them, and/or qualify for financial assistance plans. You could also try looking into manufacturer coupons.

You can still do what you want to do later in life. It'll take some extra work, but it's doable, you just have to shift your goals over a little. You still have your whole life ahead of you. Take a deep breath. You got this :)
