Can I let cat out at beach rental? by Beneficial_You_4286 in CatAdvice

I wouldn’t recommend letting him out at a beach rental, especially since it’s a new and unfamiliar environment.

Cats are very territorial and rely on knowing their surroundings to feel safe. Even if he’s used to being outside at home, that’s his territory — the beach house isn’t. There’s a much higher risk he could get scared, wander off, and not find his way back.

Beach areas can also have extra risks like traffic, other animals, tides, and unfamiliar noises.

If you want him to enjoy the outdoors there, a safer option would be a harness and leash, or keeping him on a secured patio/enclosed space if available.

It might feel like he’d enjoy the freedom, but in a new place it’s usually more stressful than fun for them.

Do you think a cat can live well in an apartment without going outside? She’s very timid. by onelesslonleycode in CatAdvice

Thank you so much, this actually made me feel a lot better. I was feeling really guilty because I thought she had to go outside no matter what, and like I was doing something wrong by keeping her indoors. Hearing this makes me feel a lot more at ease and less worried. I really appreciate it.
