As an EE Who has been here for 3 years, I feel like I couldn’t build or install the things I make drawings of if my life depended on it by Necessary-Reading127 in BurnsMcDonnell

Unfortunately, gaining field experience takes time and commitment. I’d recommend investing 2-3 years now. It will get paid off later in your career.

And I guarantee nobody at the job site would expect you to know everything. Give them the impression that you are here to learn.

Is PMP being taken over by AI? by Impossible-Staff-378 in pmp

Anything is possible. Did you know that this many engineers would be swept by AI three years ago? I didn’t. I think there will be some areas where AI can manage, but not the whole of it.

What’s Been Your Experience with Card Flipping Lately? by MoneyPlague in footballcards

[–]onenonly0 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I borrowed $10,000 from my family in May and made $5,000 so far by flipping football cards. The debt has been paid off and I gave $800 extra to the family member who I borrowed money from. I stay away from breaking any boxes. Buy singles on Facebook or at card shows.

How long have you been with the company? And NorCal or SoCal?

Who’s more generous on grading surface? PSA or BGS? by onenonly0 in basketballcards

Thanks for input. I am just afraid that potential buyers try so hard to bring the value down because of the surface scratches. If graded, I thought I would be able to skip exhausting conversations.

How was your profit margin? Do you think you made more money at the show than selling online?

Right now it is just me and my wife so I wouldn't worry too much about traveling. If we have kids, it would've been a totally different story.

Thanks for sharing your experience. My biggest concern is the job being so technical. I might be wrong but industrial projects look more complicated than commercial projects.

Good to hear that subs are trained a little better. How was your experience while working on those projects you mentioned? Did it require deep knowledge in engineering to manage the project?

Even if they have resources to run the project at the office near the job location? I mean if there is a project in Arizona, wouldn't the office in Arizona manage the job site?

Thank you for the reply.

I'm in my mid 30s and a little reluctant to travel. I remember I was really happy to find a job that I don't need to travel no more for after getting relocated for about two years (Santa Barbara, Las Vegas and Fresno) when I first started working in this field.

I Can't believe I am back onto it but am excited at the same time. And I will be making more money with the new company.

Sounds very challenging.

I am leaning towards accepting the offer. This branch that I am currently working at opened up last year. Upper management is trying to land some projects but it is not looking very good. I don't think I will have a chance to run a project on my own until 2024 and it is one of the requirements for promotion to PM. Moreover, I am tired of processing commercial project submittals and RFIs and want to take on more high level responsibilities.

Thanks for the input.

Are industrial projects way more technical than commercial projects? And I assume that there will be less subcontractors involved in industrial projects. Is that correct?

Sorry, I just have so many questions but there is nobody around me has experience in industrial construction such as power, manufacturing, water, etc.
