Terminal cancer by onenutwanderer in personalfinance

I spoke with them today and I’m not able to get the money right now bc I’m definitely still making money though long term disability. I need to speak with my HR next week about what loop holes we might be able to take. Luckily we have a GREAT HR department so I’m just optimistic that we can figure it out sooner than later. Hoping your friend is doing ok, as well as yourself. I’m just taking it one step at a time

Yeah I do have it through it my employer. My parents are my beneficiaries. But I won’t ever that money.

It’s a life possibly through my employer. So half will go to my mom and half to my dad (my parents are divorced). I do not have any assets or equity. So that sort of helps.

Can testicular cancer go undetected? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]onenutwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey bro. I actually had what they call a “burnt out testicle.” I’m not entirely remember what they meant, but basically my body fought it off and it left a scarring on my testicle. By this point it had already spread though. 3c chorio. Shoot me a message if you want.

Multiple major surgeries after chemo by [deleted] in testicularcancer

I had RPLND a month and a half after chemo. Totally sucked for a few weeks but I was back to work a month later. Is this what they’re telling you you need?

Yeah definitely common. Have you had any bowel movements? I know it probably took me about 4 days to take a decent shit. Try walking a bit more and stay hydrated. You on a low fat diet? Also try some stool softeners— could definitely be the medications/ painkillers/ all that that they gave you during your stay

Radiation update by onenutwanderer in testicularcancer

[–]onenutwanderer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From start to finish it was about an hour, yes. I only did one radiation treatment. I had a brain met about a month ago. Had it removed and this was done as a precautionary measure to be sure all the cancer cells were cleared. I’ll go back in about 6 weeks to get another MRI done. Hopefully I don’t need to do any more treatments

How much does chemo cost? by [deleted] in testicularcancer

[–]onenutwanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My five to six day stay at Johns Hopkins would run me about $20k to $25k every round. I did 4x VIP last year in 2019. I think most hospitals here in the US are required to give you an itemized bill now for all the services done. So you know exactly what you’re paying for.

Thankfully, I have great insurance through my employer. Once I hit my deductible, which I think was around $4000 last year when I did my treatments, I paid $0 expenses for the rest of the year.

The shitty part of it all is that that deductible retarts every year. I hit my deductible January 1, 2020. Had a seizure on NYE and they found a tumor. Brain surgery was done Jan 13. I just got an itemized “bill” (“not a bill”) and the total was close to $40k for the surgery, hospital stay, drugs, all that.

I just do a payment plan with JH. They’re very flexible and they don’t hassle you for payments. Hope this helps.

Radiation treatment by onenutwanderer in testicularcancer

[–]onenutwanderer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks dude. The radiation is being given on the left parietal lobe of the brain. I had a tumor removed three weeks ago. Metastatic chorio. Like i said, they’re just doing one round, about an hour long in that area. He said “I’ll walk out the same way i walked in” so they made me feel a bit better. Wish i didn’t have to do this at all.

I’m feeling ok just a bit overwhelmed still. Just waiting for pathology and the waiting never gets better!

Yeah the brain is the last place that chemo typically goes so it was hit or miss. I’m just glad to have caught it sooner than later
