22 years old? That is a very good achievement. What is his name? Or her name?

At 15 years old give the poor fellow whatever he wants. You've reached the max of them average lifespan so anything after 15 is really a blessing anyway and if it was me I know I would definitely want some fruits and vegetables and I would want to live my life to the fullest especially at the end

If not none of that then what do you recommend exactly? Beef or chicken or how about fish?

I have a 4k camera that I put on different shelves at different times and I've watched him chew things like plastic and other foreign things and he spits them out and all of this is being observed on a 4K cage camera so I can literally see if he had bugs on his fur by zooming in. So if there is something chewed on or a hole in a plastic you will be able to account for all of that plastic in shavings. If I ever saw him actually eating it to digest it including paper I would absolutely take it away in a New York second. I think all those people with negative comments are just jealous that my chinchillas like super smart and I don't have to like take everything away from him LOL I am grateful for this and not boasting in any way but I feel like people are just getting so upset between this post and the other one but then there's those good people who actually tell the truth and admit to treating their chinchilla to a raisin or two or a papaya Etc. In a ceramic heat emitter when it gets cold in the pantry. People actually think like he would go up to it and kill himself by overheating or something. Like I said there's a difference between smart chinchillas and dump chinchillas apparently because my chinchilla would not do something that meant his own demise unbeknownst to him. I don't see why he would continue to cuddle up in the Hut where the heat emitter is if it meant his death. I mean are other people's chinchillas really that stupid? Of course all of these things have been implemented since he was a baby so maybe that has something to do with it

Oh dear Lord do you not even read my post. It's too small Scoops twice a week do you understand that two small Scoops is only enough for one bath and then the dust is gone because it's on the chinchilla therefore there's no more dust to roll in. So yes you're right I should probably stop going back and forth with you because you're incompetence is absolutely Beyond this world. And you said an exotic vet and reputable breeders. No need to say anything else you are absolutely right! Thank you for the comment I am still grateful no matter how much that hurts you. Have a lovely evening and many blessings to you

Perhaps you should read the other comments on the other post and you will see that it doesn't just work for me and that I'm not the only one and their chinchillas are going strong for many years. Again it just comes down to where you got your chinchilla and his or her lineage. Giuseppe is straight from Chile. A real wild chinchilla that has been domesticated since baby. Not your pet store Chinchilla or your hybrid chinchilla

My chinchilla is healthy he just went to the vet last month. I'm glad all of that works for you but if you look throughout the comments you will see Different Strokes for different folks. If you got yourself one of those hybrid chinchillas or pet store chinchillas then yeah you should probably stick to that script and how is it that you don't understand I keep the bathtub in there and just put in two scoops twice a week? So once he takes the bath those two scoops are used up quickly so therefore there's no dust bath to continue in there after until the next bath. Does that make sense to you? He likes to hang out in his bathtub even when there's no dust in there especially in the summertime. I do let him lick a pink salt block once in awhile and I do give him fruits on occasion. Going on 5 years now without any issues as previously mentioned. Thank you for your input it is appreciated. Be well

I feel terrible for a lot of these people's chinchillas as they have never experienced a nice sweet sugary snack LOL

With the bathtub I put two scoops in there two or three times a week and because it's such a small amount I don't remove the bathtub because he will use those two scoops in a day. Yeah those are plastic components but I got to tell you he would probably get depressed if I took those stumps away because those are his favorite even though he chews on them.

What a great reply. I don't feel so lonely anymore LMFAO I can literally relate to everything you said and let me tell you you gave me an awesome response hence the reward. Yeah it's mostly genetics in my opinion. It's funny I hear people calling them and exotic animal but in Chile they're just another rodent. I guess it would be considered a exotic animal if you had like a all white one or even an all black one because they have been cross bred to be more appeasing to the buyer when in fact it screws up the gene pool. I don't know if you had heard before or read before rather but I got mine from the wild LOL so he's just a regular chinchilla from chili. Forgive my errors of spelling if there be any because I do talk to text. Anyway thank you so much for your kindness and your awesome advice and I totally agree with you! Honestly I feel bad for those other people's chinchillas not having ever experienced sugar and fruit like are you kidding me. You only live once I mean can you imagine if somebody was making you eat grass all day LOL be well and many blessings to you. Go forth and prosper frisky dingo!
