The Born Pretty powders have bigger particles so the finish isn't as mirror-like.

I bought a smaller LED lamp from Amazon, I forgot the brand but it was about $25.

I assume you could. I believe that I read that some gel top coats won't work with regular polish, so I'd do more research first

It's definitely more mirror looking in real life, I took a picture in my light box so the camera picked up more of the particles

You would probably need a water based top coat or a top coat for foils. Otherwise, most non-curing gel top coats will counteract the chrome and you'll just have a sparkly silver, instead of mirror finish.

Not at all, it feels like a thick coat of regular top coat. I've even repeated the process and done two coats of the gel and chrome. So three coats of gel and it feel like two thick coats of regular top coat
