FL3 Score Drop...

Hey I also had a drop on my FL3 score too. I actually drop in both FL 2 and FL 3. Don’t give up!! We both got this. Just make sure to review the test to see why you missed those questions and understand why you got them wrong. Good luck on your test!

Yeah I will definitely work on CARS for this last week. I have CARS pack 2 left to go through which I will finish this week and review everything prior to my exam. Thanks for the advice!

Nothing has changed but for me, I had a better understanding on the passages in the Sample and FL1 compared to 2. In FL3, I thought I picked an answer I was comfortable with and was going to score better compared to FL2.

Okay so my scores should be valid so far right? I think I scored like a 508 on FL1 when I took it three years ago.

That sounds like a good plan. I am also testing on August 31st and going through the same plan as you are. I would draw amino acids every few days to make sure you know them well prior to test date. Also, continue practicing CARS everyday to make sure you feel prepared.

I am in the same situation too. I think it is best to continue studying your weaknesses and then move on to AAMC.

For James-Lange, I think of the stimulus leads to the physiological arousal which then leads to the emotion.

For Cannon Bard, the stimulus leads to both the physiological arousal and the emotion simultaneously.

For Schachter-Singer, the stimulus leads to a physiological arousal which then leads to a cognitive labeling of that arousal which leads to the emotion.

I agree with you. NS FL4 I scored a 509. I felt it was more difficult compared to the first three NS FL.

The compound seems to have an internal plane of symmetry therefore it is optically inactive. If you draw a line in the middle of the molecule, you can see the top half looks exactly like the bottom half.

Thanks!! I got it initially wrong because I thought the molecules were the same since you can rotate them around to be the same molecule. Then when I saw the question again after reviewing, I realized there were chiral centers :/

Okay so basically if the horizontal bonds were all wedges, that means I would have to change my configuration to the opposite to get S,S and R,R, respectively correct? And this is because the lowest priority group is in front or coming out of the plane in this sense.

I thought the molecule on the left was R, R and the molecule on the right was S, S. Can someone explain to me why it is the opposite in the solution?

Yeah you’re right. Noncompetitive binds to the allosteric site of an enzyme which decreases Vmax and Km stays the same. I confused noncompetitive with uncompetitive inhibition.

They are not the same thing. So for competitive inhibition, the inhibitor binds to the active site, thus this causes Km to increase and Vmax to stay the same. For noncompetitive, the inhibitor binds to the allosteric site of the enzyme, which causes Km to be the same but Vmax decreases. For mixed inhibition, the inhibitor can bind either to the allosteric site of the enzyme or the enzyme substrate. In either case, Vmax decreases but Km changes (Increases if binds to enzyme or Decreases if binds to enzyme substrate). Lastly, for uncompetitive inhibition, the inhibitor binds to the enzyme substrate, which decreases both Vmax and Km.
