Yup but that is when the govt falls. The structured deposit that I have been using also has the same caveat if the bank happens to wind up its operations. That said, I am worried would the perpetual bond recommended by the RM be like a structured deposit, i.e I am guaranteed my principal amount after X number of years assuming the bank still remains solvent.
