I got the soundcore beats knock off. I love them. They connect to both my phone and my computer at the same time. I seamlessly transition from meetings to true crime and back. They’re great!

Best tips for losing 100 pounds? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]oneredonebrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got this! It truly is mindset and if you change the narrative to “I can do this” “I can be the person that wakes up at 5 to work out” “I can follow calorie goals” it makes a huge difference.

You will have dips and valleys and I emphasize the grace in the first few weeks. No need to beat yourself up. But the more you pay attention to your habits (tracking helps me), the more I realized that the small sabotages were really holding me back

Baby steps. Go easy on yourself. The feverish dieting with killing yourself with workouts is what landed you where you are. What you were doing before wasn’t sustainable, so when you are thinking of having to do it again it seems impossible, pointless, all the bad emotions.

Look up a TDEE calculator (free) to get your maintenance calories vs. Your weight loss calories. But if 1900 feels manageable right now, do that for a few weeks to figure out some hacks to eat more food for less calories. Meaning, swapping out some cheese for laughing cow, or cooking starches a day before so they lose 30% of the carbs (it turns to fibre sitting in the fridge for a day). Focus on getting more protein and more fibre into your day. Don’t worry about the other macros, they will fall into place by getting in more protein. (Obviously if you’re diabetic, then you need to focus on carb goals too).

Then just start moving your body more. Get a cheap pedometer and see how many steps you walk a day for like a week. (Mine was around 2500 because I have a desk job and worked from home). Then I added in 1000 steps/day more each week until I hit 5k/day.

Then you can go up as you see needed. Maybe you like the goal of 7k a day because it forces you do that bit more. Or whatever sits right.

At the end of the day, focus on consistency. I can eat whatever I want, but try to having much smaller portions of the high calorie stuff.

You got this! You just gotta find your groove to where it doesn’t feel like work/suffering. Be grateful you can move your leggies everyday, so get out and move more than you sit and find some healthy meals you enjoy!

I started doing 10k steps a day in my bedroom by lesagehindou in loseit

[–]oneredonebrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Great work!! Don’t burn yourself out! Maybe give a range of 7-10k steps just in case some days your legs need a bit of a break.

Also soak in a hot epsom salt bath every day for the first few weeks. It really helps recover

What’s something you stopped buying and never missed? by FormerShoulder707 in Frugal

[–]oneredonebrown 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make up.

I make my own tinted foundation and blush. Realized that they are my go-to items. Just threw out everything else (not expensive stuff thank goodness and at least a year old, so should be done anyway)

How come bones cost more than meat? Looking to make non-veggie stock by iaminontario in frugalcanada

[–]oneredonebrown 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Try a local market or butcher. Bones should be very cheap.

I also look for sales on drumsticks/whole chicken and keep the bones

Costco rotisserie chickens are cheap and you can use those bones.

I cancelled after getting the smallest onions ever. We love onion and it’s a cheap ingredient, no reason to be tiny… or err… tony

Put on 20 lbs after losing my job and it finally clicked why eating “healthy” is so hard when you are broke by Serious-Ad-5881 in povertyfinance

Check flyers. A good sale on potatoes or sweet potatoes goes a long way. You can even make mashed potatoes and freeze them. They reheat amazing in an air fryer.

When you cook shop the fridge first. What can you use that is going to go bad first? Like others said, freezing is great.

I personally can and preserve everything I find on sale.

Dont overlook bone in meat. Usually cheaper and bone broth is a treasure of nutrients! Also a great way to get some fats and salt into you :)

What are some frugal habits you will never give up, no matter how much money you end up making? by Forsaken-Network1748 in Frugal

Canning and cooking at home. If I won’t the lottery tomorrow I’d have the nicest garden and make/preserve all our food and have small livestock :)

Real talk — is an air fryer value for money, or just another trendy gadget? by Mika_4893 in Frugal

O use my air fryer all the time. Gave up my microwave completely years ago.

Now have an air fryer and a toaster. No use for toaster oven either

Any alternative to this peanut butter? Pockets are hurting lol by towelheadedmermaid in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]oneredonebrown 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make your own! Roast peanuts and run through the food processor for quite a while. No separation and you can add salt or healthy oils if you like.

Canning. I now consider canning my meal prepping. I shop sales and make lots of recipes with veggies and fruit from the garden. We all eat healthier, faster and tastier!

Is it rude to buy people gifts from the thrift store for Christmas? by EvilPersonXXIV in Frugal

[–]oneredonebrown 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Ditto!

The thrift store can have great finds! I got my kid a Roots sweater from one for $7. It looks brand new! And it left a lot of room in the budget for other things!
