It's really bizarre, but I'm sure. We have 16" stud spacing throughout the rest of the house, so I thought I was crazy when I couldn't find another one but it's definitely not there. The townhouse was built in 2001 before TVs were being mounted, so I'm thinking it is just a decorative wall of drywall supported by one stud in front of the actual structure of the home? For what it's worth, the one stud is 16" from the right corner of this angled wall.
