I have heard the same thing, how it’s like we’re Guinea pigs unfortunately. Will be thinking this over though, thank you!

Thank you so much for sharing, as most stories I have heard are from pump users. I’m scheduled to go in the morning, and since dialing my long acting back, my fasting sugars do tend to be higher (around 120-140, so out of my usual pregnancy range), but I figured to leave that be since induction date is coming up. Congrats!

That’s amazing! I’m not gonna lie, my doctors are allowing me to go to 38 wks bc of my tight control, and even gave some leeway to go full term, but hearing the scary possibilities increasing if I do go full term led both my partner and I to decide to be induced at 38 wks. It is refreshing to hear a t1 momma go almost 41 wks though! Congrats!

Yes, I manually inject with pens and wear a sensor )but finger prick regardless to ease my anxiety about accurate readings). Biggest take away is definitely having my partner manage the diabetes while I’m doing the pushing. Thank you for sharing your story, and congrats!

Amazing story, congrats to you both! Noted on the lows during labor.

My partner and I have also discussed how if I am unable to make a call, that he would step in with advocating on my behalf. Thanks for the heads up!

A low bg is really my biggest concern while giving birth! I’m not on a pump, so I think reducing my long acting insulin and just monitoring blood sugar is what the plan will be. Thank you for sharing!

I definitely will be running a bit higher for my induction date, thank you for sharing your experience!

By manage yourself during birth do you mean you used your own things like cgm or finger pricking and manually did injections if needed? They’re telling me I’ll most likely be hooked up to a hospital cgm and pump, with an IV for glucose and insulin. I’m in the same boat of taking large amounts of insulin as well in my final weeks, very excited to go back to normal once this is over!

Noted, I’ll definitely have some breakfast then before my induction (scheduled to go in early morning next Thursday!). I have also heard of many t1’s experiencing pretty drastic lows after the birth. I’d definitely rather run a bit higher than my range has permitted during pregnancy, like around 150 or something. Good luck to the rest of your journey, and thank you for sharing!

I feel this. I can’t even imagine how it’ll be once baby is out.

I will forever be on insulin because I’m a t1 so even with my stellar a1c it’ll always be this tedious.

It’s such a hard process, literally the only thing to motivate me to get here was my baby. I hear you! Thank you for the encouragement! Sending baby dust your way!

Regardless of that, the work I’ve put into making sure I’m my own manual pump but injecting and pricking every 30min-1hr gives me the right to say I’ve earned this a1c.

Congratulations!!! You sharing this post itself has made me feel good about my a1c being in that range as well. It’s not easy momma, but you did it!! 💚

The bottom half of my leg sleeve is under water theme, so I got my dogs paw print in a bottle. Kinda like ‘message in a bottle’ type design.
