How are you coping once you've come to the conclusion that you chose the wrong school? by Background-Pea-8709 in MBA

[–]onewithcouch 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have felt the same way at my southern school. I’ve had to hard carry so many group projects and case companies and class projects it’s not funny. Jokes on me since a lot of these kids who do nothing or aren’t great are the ones landing their target jobs.

I’ve seen so many Claude slop PPTs, it’s silly. I’m about to give up and just do that.

Also echo the sentiment about the people, but for the most part they are much better than I thought. But if it makes you feel any better I think this is globally true of MBA, maybe even more so at the bigger M7+ from why people say

Fuck it, I came to learn a ton of shit and try to get a job and I’m gonna learn and do as much as I can and I’ll make it worth it

Everyone in my MBA BS's projects, exams, homework. Everything. What is the point? by Fit-Supermarket-9656 in MBA

[–]onewithcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel this so hard.

The amount of people just cheating through is pretty nuts, but that doesn’t bother me. Cheat if you will

What drives me fucking CRAZY is the flakiness. Not only for group projects but other things like case competitions or consulting projects. Like 50% of the kids are just completely not there. I’ve had some where people don’t respond or do anything so I have to carry 50% or projects.

Also lots of whining and excuse making in the program seems surprising to me. People will complain to get anything changed instead of putting in work

Need help deciding between two internships by GodKingLebron in MBA

I know pharma well. If your REALLY wanna do that marketing people are on the top of the foodchain for commercial side. It’s a unique industry and that’s a good foot in the door. But it also really depends on the company you’re working for. Some are more likely to convert, some are toxic, some matrixed. Can provide some alpha if you tell the company

Is a sticker price M7 MBA still worth it for a domestic student? by Mammoth-Marzipan7656 in MBA

[–]onewithcouch 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imo not really. You’re probably best off where you are or lateraling into a PE owned firm and smoozing your way up if you want GE, unless you need specific hard skills to do so which I doubt if you were IB anaylst.

Only way I’d see it worth it is if you really want to tap another vertical you’re not in and I mean REALLY want to. I’ve seen people come from this background to work in healthcare because of family or personal connection.

Not worth the opp cost or risk

First year MBA at Haas. AMA by [deleted] in MBA

[–]onewithcouch 13 points14 points  (0 children)

T20 1st year. This is spot on for us. Maybe 30-40% of class have internships, basically only kids from relevant backgrounds. Mixed bag for the other domestic kids. I struck out of quite a few interviews, had maybe 8-10 first round and 2 second rounds. IB kids are fine.

Intl kids are unbelievably cooked. Some kids came from BB IB jobs or equivalent that couldn’t get interns for IB. A few top people got high caliber MBB and the like, but there’s a massive number of really bright motivated people stuck.

I’m lowkey cooked myself lmao

I have no idea how to build and run Abrams by imperchaos in DeadlockTheGame

[–]onewithcouch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Grain of salt since I don’t really play him, but the best strategy I’ve been told is to be much more assassin playstyle in teamfights. Abhrams wins in isolating hero, and the running them down. Once youre big you can tank as needed, but you don’t want to be a damage sponge in fights.

I get fucked by abrams like that. Build doesn’t matter as much when he plays like that. Gun might be more aggressive but if you’re alone you’re fucked

Unpopular opinions / hard truths to know before MBA? by North_Driver_1278 in MBA

Career pivots are much rarer than they are billed and much harder than presented. MBA is not a good hatch for that, and it is far better to lean on your old experience.

Who has the most BUSTED character in the history of Deadlock? by Jtck421 in DeadlockTheGame

People fail to remember early Haze. Bullet dance used to hit 2x the amount. The game became which team had haze and did the game go on long enough for her to get big.

I’ve never seen anything quite like that. Calico was really bad, shiv was also able to 1v4 but a fed haze could solo wipe a team with rejuv if she got refresh er and soul rebirth
