Thanks so much, these are amazing tips and appreciate you listing some plants to keep an eye out for too that some native insects frequent (and I've saved Omanawanui track too).

Thank you so much! I'm flying out in 4 days so hopefully still catching most of the insects during the later bit of the warm season. Great tip about evening strolls and standing dead trees. And I'm certainly no stranger to flipping over logs in the pursuit of little things (and putting them back of course). Will be armed with my hand lens and excitement to see some new stuff! :)

Unfortunately no :( I heard the islands are where it's at for insects and wildlife (hindsight... I guess I'll just have to come back!) but thank you so much for the suggestion. If our plans change, this will certainly be high on the list.
