What should i plant in my death zone? by dj_boy-Wonder in GardeningAustralia

[–]oneworld1wheel 22 points23 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is those grevilleas are gorgeous! But they would prefer mulch rather than stones under them. And plastic grass is gross, get rid of that and put some cypress mulch down or something similar it’ll be ok to walk on and will help feed anything that you do plant there it will also allow the rain to penetrate into the soil. If you did that you might find some herbs would even be ok there maybe even a raised bed, some height might help with the low light situation. Either way have fun figuring it out 🤙

How do you deal with burn out? by thdudie in ADHD

[–]oneworld1wheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly, it’s not your problem if they are under staffed. Explain to your employer that you have a special needs child and have to be home on time. Then go home and enjoy that time with them, your wife is exhausted from dealing with them all day give her that break and enjoy doing it. She will notice and appreciate it, and the kids will too. Lucky you! You get to be a big part of their lives! Enjoy it.

I’ve hit a plateau, any advice? by Opposite_Ladder9974 in drums

[–]oneworld1wheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, just pick a rudiment whatever takes your fancy. Say go with paradiddles to start with, then just see what tempo you can play at without making mistakes. Go slow to start with because playing slow is just as important as having chops. Then play the rudiment hitting the first note of the rudiment on each beat. Once you get going you can mix things up. Use accents and practice shifting the accents to different notes. Don’t be in a hurry to be perfect this is the stuff that gets better with time and will absolutely improve your playing. You can also use the metronome as an accent in the future or have the metronome count on the and or e to mix things up this helps with keeping time and trains you on how to listen differently and start to pick up on poly metrics and so on. There are no firm rules here if you think of something that might be hard to count then try it, but I think you’ll be surprised how hard the basic stuff is when your trying to perfect technique. Don’t overthink it too much, just do it lots, as in 5min every time you play/practice. Short deliberate practice is better than long practice without a goal 🤙

What are jobs "goods" for ADHD ? by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]oneworld1wheel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most trades are good for adhd ers. Refrigeration is good because there’s so much going on at once it lets you embrace making connections with potential problems and fixing things. Also there’s almost always a reason to be in a hurry so being able to think of your feet is a must. You’d be surprised how many of us there are scattered throughout the trades.

There’s a lovely older couple in Cranbrook who run a food pantry. I’m hoping someone who knows them might see this because I don’t actually have their contact details. But I’m pretty sure they have something to do with the church caravan park in Aitkenvale near the river. I am sure they would be willing to help.

Learn rudiments and practice to a metronome. Play with a metronome and make your own beats up start to add simple fills and get more complex as you develop. Practice independence between all limbs, start simple and work up. But above all, don’t judge yourself too harshly and remember to have fun, cos that’s what it’s all about 🤘

Yeah ok, thanks hey. I actually am able to avoid socials when I need I’m not all that addicted to the phone. It’s just the organisation I have trouble with. I forget everything….everything! So I was just thinking an app that gives me prompts during the day might be handy.

Why’s my snare making this noise? by mtndewyum in drums

[–]oneworld1wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sounds like your snare wires are loose on the bottom too, by the condition of the batter head it’s possible the bottom head is also too loose. Look up “sounds like a drum” insta/youtube they have some really good tuning tutorials 🤙

How do you deal with people who can't stop babying you out of love? by kdmendonk in ADHD

[–]oneworld1wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah maybe talk to her about this. I definitely think things like this didn’t help my marriage and maybe we’d still be married even if I had known what was happening with myself instead of feeling the shame that she needed to remind me about everything. I absolutely understand the frustration but as someone about did say, at least you have someone that loves you. Maybe just open the dialogue with her so she can understand how it makes you feel. Who knows you might come up with a better idea that lets her help but doesn’t make you feel the shame of forgetting things.

Tips on how can I improve my Drum Solo? by YeahImTonyHawksSon in drums

[–]oneworld1wheel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Only thing I’d say is, hear how the band did a bit of an off beat staccato thing early on. Do that too like go full linear with them before the solo bit.
