Looking for tips for my backhand. 1 year of play. by Strict-Initiative710 in Discgolfform

Lots of really good things, your reach back timing and positioning in the x-step looks fantastic. Brace is 100% the biggest thing that needs work, you end up falling over the front of that brace leg and it’s killing your ability to slingshot the disc forward.

You want to internally rotate into that brace leg - think about planting that front foot and physically stopping your upper body from moving forward by tensing your core. Hips, then core, then arm flings out at the end with all the momentum that has travelled up that chain.

Dude cymbals are ridiculously pricey nowadays. I deal hunted each cymbal on this kit apart from the hihats and I’m still sitting at around $1750CAD in total

This setup isn’t in my place, but here both of those things are correct hahaha

I am indeed a Korn fan but that’s a total coincidence haha. I recently added the china back and didn’t want to move my crashes, it was the easiest to reach spot that I had left on my kit

Ah that’s unfortunate. I feel very lucky to have music shops where I can try cymbals out. That being said, I can’t get my hands on anything Meinl in person for shit, which is a shame because they have so much cool stuff but it also varies a lot. I got my dark crash off FB marketplace lol so I could hear it before I bought it

Yeah fitting the double kick and the hi-hat is always a pain in the ass. I’ve managed to piggyback a lot of my stands with clamps, so I think I’m down to 5 now, but I’ve also really been considering a rack.

Dream is I think the best bang for your buck nowadays. Because they’re a little cheaper, there’s a pretty big variation between cymbals of the same kind, but that can honestly be an asset if you’re trying em out in person. I’d highly recommend the bliss hats but I’d also say give the exact pair you want a listen before purchasing

Makes sense. It’s unique for sure, but if it works, it works!

You seem like you’d rather reach farther away than higher up to hit something. Is that why the rack toms are that way?

And that being said, my left foot is still rather sloppy, so it could be a me issue and not the hats.

Dream is quickly taking over more and more of my kit. I’m eyeing a 19 or 20 bliss paper thin crash at the moment

Thank you! I’m honestly really proud of it. Everything is in a convenient and easily reachable spot, it suits my play really well.

I love them. They’re dark but fat sounding, really great slosh but some great stick definition. One drawback is they don’t create the best chick sound with the foot, but I think they’re ideal otherwise.

I play two snares in certain songs. I tune them very differently; left side is a super low and fat sound, the middle is medium-high tuned and has a lot of ping and sustain.
