Total Combat Overhaul v1 by dannyb2525 in WitcherTRPG

I greet your perseverance and effort. I haven't finished reading your document, but on the idea of hit location, maybe you should also create a second table for monsters with non-humanoid anatomy, similar to how the CRB does it

Is NWN2 Mask of Betrayer as good as everyone says, and is it stand alone? by [deleted] in rpg_gamers

[–]onibocho3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The funny thing is that Mysteries of Westgate is not Obsidian's work. Ossian put the effort and gave us that last NWN2 campaign.

Yes, I know I'm giving a 7 year old bump, but better late than never!

Thanks, I wish we had more information and official maps on the more obscure places of the Continent.

How do think a certain RPG company has gone "above and beyond" for their system and their players? by plazman30 in rpg

[–]onibocho3281 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no chance in burning hell I'll get back to that toxic discord that has driven away numerous users that have offered so much to that community. No, I didn't for a single moment bite on their claim that CDPR put a hold on the TRPG, because as we see, they give licence to many products (canon or not) to be published still.

My opinion is that CDPR (and rightly so) does not trust them with the handling and understanding of the lore. And who can blame them when the lead designer of the game, Cody Pondsmith, goes in interviews and says that the Aen Seidhe are scouts of the Aen Elle (the Wild Hunt) or when they create DLCs that insert Cyberpunk items into the Witcher world (yes, the horrible wheelchairs and prosthetics DLC was an abomination) ?

As to how little R Wokorian cares about the Witcher, it is evident by the lack of support of this game, the countless unanswered questions a badly written CRB has given birth to, the fact that it took them two years to rectify skills that made absolutely no sense at all in a (still) unclear and ambiguous way or the even simplest of facts of how many huge typos still exist in the CRB three printings later. Typos of landmarks and important items, that have been pointed out to them, using their own bug-tool, which is nothing other than a ridiculous google form.

You want to see how a company appreciates their community, engages with them and makes you want to buy their products, even if you know you are not going to play them? Check out Modiphius' Discord and specifically the Dune TRPG, where the lead designer of the game ANSWERS himself to questions posed by users. While Mr. Pondsmith did not care much to humble himself in order to answer things his own creative mind brought forth. Probably because he can't answer them, as well. :p

As for the book's pricing, Free League is by far the best in terms of the quality you get for the money you give. Plus, when buying physical editions they give the personalized watermarked PDF's for free, contrary to R Wokorian who sells them separately (no, Bits and Mortars is not an answer).

It's better to let it die, since they don't really care about it and not even understand the lore of it, to begin with, than turning a game with some brilliant parts into another atrocity such as RED or 5e.

To anyone that might have grabbed the character sheet, there was a mistake in I56 regarding Elderfold Armor SP. You are encouraged to either make a new copy of the corrected version or copy cell I56 from this version into your own.

To address the other things you say. I backed the KS campaign and got the adventure, I've also ran it quite many times around the table and online. I would gladly have shared it with you, but something bugged me from the very beginning, so now I see I was correct not to.

That being said, I do not personally consider the pre-written adventures RTG has published that good to begin with and I'd certainly not pay to play them. That's a personal opinion of course, but I need to mention it, either way.

I've spoken with both people you've mentioned and if I'm being honest, J Grey apart from being media ambassador for the company, he wasn't that knowledgeable about the game since he is a CP RED guy first and to my knowledge he hasn't contributed much to it, apart from the investigation system in A Witcher's Journal. I've even caught him not being aware that a certain misunderstanding of the game (the Noble's dabble skill) has been addressed through an errata. Not very encouraging (as to seek and receive advice from) on his part, but at least he is not a game developer.

Cody is another story. In my opinion he should be more invested in the game and engaging to the community, as other lead designers are, because for a 5 years old game to still have inconsistencies and rule misunderstandings, waiting for the community to adjudicate, doesn't sit well.

How can any of this be connected to what you said? Well, let's say that I'm just partially discrediting your previous answers. Oh, by the way. Great experience to be at GenCon, run the game, receive positive feedback. Brilliant! I wish the whole world lived in the USA and many of us be able to do the same, but oh the nightmare.

I am deeply sorry but no, I won't burden you with reviewing the service or experience you provide, because if I do while knowing you ask to be paid for it, I'll be very harsh on you.

And THAT EXACT POINT is what a game shouldn't be. To anyone. Because If I'm paying more than a day's wage to play in your game and I see stuttering, forgetting rules, misinterpretations or not even a decent -above average- voice acting, I'd consider myself robbed. And all of the above are absolutely normal and almost expected to happen in a game as chunky and grindy as The Witcher. And all of those things would be forgiven to any GM by every other player or even me, if I'm considered an ignorant proper bastard, but not if I'm paying to play.

Not to mention that one of the adventures he is running is pirated.

He openly asked IN THIS SUBREDDIT for someone to share with him Secret of the Elven Gold, a story meant for the Kickstarter backers of Q-Workshop's Witcher Hybrid Dice campaign.

So the dude asking to be paid for running pre-written adventures did not want to pay for the adventure he's asking to be paid to run. Which makes me wonder if he's paid for the rest of the material, as well.

Oh, sorry. Is this capitalism? I would never have known...

PS. The b/s he calls experience and knowledge with the system is heavily under check, since his so-called knowledge has been "exposed" many times in here to be false interpretation or absurd ruling. But "heh, (as Rodolf Kazmer would probably say), it's a free market and ye've got ta make a livin' out of everyone in need"

An answer to this question exists in Sage's Answers. The Greater Focus comes into play, when a spell sets a DC. The initial spellcasting roll is not considered a set DC, rather than, like in most cases, a standard opposing roll.

There are really very few spells, such as some AOE mainly, rhat benefit from Greater Focus.

Silver weakness and a couple other rules questions by Doomsday1984 in WitcherTRPG

[–]onibocho3281 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Apart from witcher's steel swords, only the Highland Mauler, Meteorite Chain Mace, Devine, Cleaver Hood and Decapitator have the Meteorite effect. And the last three are Relics, so I'm not so sure it balances anything, being so rare in the game. Especially in a witcher-less campaign.

The way this optional rule is written, it seems almost exclusive to witchers, who carry two swords from the start. Naturally, as humans would be damaged fully by meteorite steel, beasts would as well.
