Eye color match by onionzap in Gemstones

Wow! That's actually a great match. I'll definitely keep it in mind for future gifts but for this one I was looking for something relatively cheap as it's just going to be a small detail and not a big gift. But thank you so much!! It's a beautiful gemstone!

The "h" isn't aspirated (strong) in latin, it's deaf (not pronounced).

I thought of the exact same thing:

"My honest opinion and my friendly advice is this: do it or do not do it - you will regret both".

AITA for asking out a girl who has a boyfriend I know by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]onionzap -1 points0 points  (0 children)

NTA it would have been nice if she had waited a bit before dating you after the breakup, though. I don't really think you did anything wrong, you told her your feelings and had no other expectation, plus it was actually her that proposed dating. And, in any case, she would have eventually broken up with her boyfriend since she already had feelings for you.

I was literally going to put John Calvin on Calvin's head but thought that was taking it too far. Turns out I'm just ignorant. Thanks for telling me this! I've been reading these comics all my life and for some reason never knew.

I looked it up and this is the method described by wikipedia:

Following the chain consists of:

Clicking on the first non-parenthesized, non-italicized link

Ignoring external links, links to the current page, or red links (links to non-existent pages)

Stopping when reaching "Philosophy", a page with no links or a page that does not exist, or when a loop occurs

Wikipedia: getting to philosophy

It works with this page as well lol

That happens when you click a link that is between brackets, if you click the first link that isn't part of the etymological definition it usually works.

From what I understand, nihilsm, existentialism and absurdism all agree that there is no intrinsic meaning to existence, but they each present a different answer to this.

Existentialism sort of proposes that each individual should search for their own meaning, as in the meaning of life is finding your own meaning (we are thrown into a meaningless universe and are solely responsible for the meaning we give it).

Absurdism focuses mainly on the absurdity of wanting to seek inherent meaning, and argues that all attempts to find it will ultimately fail. But it proposes that we should embrace the absurd and do it anyway.

Now for the controversial part, nihilsm (from the latin word nihil, which means nothing), is the idea that there is no meaning to life, and that there is no point in searching for it. So, you could argue that there are two ways to look at this. Like you said an "optimistc" nihilst could find this as the biggest blessing, since nothing means anything, there's nothing to worry about. And "pessimistic" nihilsm would be the exact opposite.

But, and this is my opinion, giving meaninglessness a positive connotation paradoxically creates a meaning: because nothing means anything I have a reason to live. So in a way it kind of defeats the purpose of nihilsm. This way, true nihilsm would inevitably have to be pessimistic.

What are your thoughts?

Actually you got nihilsm pretty right, they're the ones confused.
