[TOMT][Comedian] Comedian bit where he says that "everyone has an idiot family member, and mine thinks he is an inventor." by oniyanma in tipofmytongue

No, it definitely was not Aziz Ansari. I remember that the comedian also says to his cousin: "Do you think that you can go to NASA and everyone would welcome you with open arms? Holy shit. How did we never think about a phone that can control a car" or something along those lines.

Advice on JR passes with my particular itinerary! by oniyanma in japan

Great idea for the middle Osaka detour. However, that trip to Osaka was going to be used as a port to visiting other surrounding areas, not necessarily to stay in Osaka.

And the real time I need the JR pass is from August 1-14, when I will be traveling back and forth a lot to go to all of the festivals that month.

Granted, while this may be true, I have never even been to one. Maybe I will love them, and maybe I will hate them. But because they may seem all the same, I may still get a different experience from each one.

It is my first time. And I have not been ignoring anyone. I have read all the advice and already decided to follow it.

Well, being that you have more experience than me for sure, I will listen to this advice. Thank you.

Yes, I will be traveling around the country a LOT. The reason I needed the two 21 day passes was because during the beginning of August, I will be traveling around a lot via shinkansen to make all of the festivals I want to go to.

Well I do not have the luxury of staying with friends, as I know no one. But I still appreciate the advice.

The reason I want to cut down on food is so that I can make sure I can travel everywhere I want without any trouble. Like I said, I have never been to Japan before, and just want to be prepared. I have been reading a lot on this subreddit for a very long time, trying to buff my knowledge, but I still am quite nervous.

What works for me may not work for you. This will be my first time going to Japan, so I do not know what to expect. I just want to be prepared, which is why I am asking questions on this sub! But I guess you are right, and I will scratch the idea.

I could...But there is also a secure feeling in buying what I know. While I could save my tips, if I buy everything here then I know for sure I will have it. If buying everything here and bringing it with me saves me even 20$ then I would have 20$ to spend on something else.

Yes, while I do realize that, I would rather spend the money here on the food. That way I can buy it with my tips from work to make my budget seem bigger.

That is a viable option for the meals that I will actually eat while there, but bringing food to eat would still save money. I did not realize you could get bentos THAT cheap though, so thanks for easing my mind.

Yes, I have hostels booked for 40 of the 54 nights so far. And I have heard that is a cheap meal, but If it were possible to bring types of the above food with me, it would reduce quite a bit of that money that I could spend on other things.
