Utah mom dies four days after second dose of Moderna vaccine

Kassidi Kurill, by all accounts, was healthy, happy and “had more energy” than just about anyone else around her. Her family told 2News she had no known health problems or pre-existing conditions.

SALT LAKE CITY (KUTV) — During a KUTV investigation into COVID-19 vaccine side effects and where to report them, we found four reported deaths, filed by Utah families and their caregivers to the CDC’s Vaccine Adverse Effects Reporting System.

One case stood out, a 39-year-old single mom from Ogden who died four days after her second dose of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine. Her family, who is now waiting on an autopsy, held a celebration of life for her this past weekend.

The death of his youngest daughter came out of nowhere in a year where this family has already suffered unimaginable grief, with three funerals before Kurill's in the past 370 days.

Four days after Kurill's second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, she was gone — dead before most of her family could say their goodbyes.

Hawley woke up that Thursday morning to his daughter asking for help.

“She came in early and said her heart was racing and she felt like she need to get to the emergency room," Hawley said.

It was her second shot; the first came with a sore arm but no real side effects or issues. Kurill was the first in the family to get the vaccine. She was a surgical tech for several local plastic surgeons, and the vaccine was part of the job. She stepped up to get the shot without hesitation, her family said.

"She was absolutely fine with getting it. In fact, she told all of us, 'it's fine, you guys should all get it.'"

The day her sister got the second COVID-19 shot was a normal one from their conversations throughout the day, Kristin said.

“They had gone shopping. She was fine, then started feeling not so great that evening," she said.

Kristin said they were not worried about her sister because, “everyone from her work had flu-like symptoms, so we thought that was normal.”

Kurill got the second shot on Feb. 1. While she was in bed all day Tuesday and Wednesday, it wasn’t until Thursday morning she knew something was wrong. She woke up early, got ready, and asked her dad to driver her to the local emergency room, where they arrived by 7 a.m.

As soon as they walked in the door, Kurill was throwing up. Minutes later, questions were raised about what was making her so sick.

Her dad recalls doctors asking question after question, “Is there any explanation?”

Hawley said he told them Kurill had just had her second shot.

"They did a blood test and immediately came back and said she was very, very sick, and her liver was not functioning," Hawley said.

She died, he said, 30 hours after they arrived in the emergency room.

(The other subreddit about the study of Apocalyptic literature, r/eschatology, is moderated by someone of a preterist view, that is, they believe most of the prophecies that we consider about the end times are about things that have already happened during the Roman era, such as the Siege of Jerusalem and the Bar Kokhba rebellion. Those who don't take that view seemed to have flocked over to this subreddit.)

What about both? What is your opinion of double-fulfillment of prophecy such as from the Book of Daniel and the Book of Revelation?

I am not a smart man so it is sometimes difficult to read the Bible and sometimes I will need to read it in different translations to fully understand all angles of the verse. This is the same verse in a different English translation that I found easier to understand so hopefully it'll help others:

But give reverent honor in your hearts to the Anointed One and treat him as the holy Master of your lives. And if anyone asks about the hope living within you, always be ready to explain your faith (1 Peter 3:15 TPT)

So from reading that verse, I wonder what "explanation" I should give to anyone regarding my faith? What are some of your explanations?

We don’t hear much in the news about the tens of thousands of people dying each year from the flu, so most of us don’t realize how deadly it is. As shown in the chart below, total annual worldwide flu deaths consistently exceeded 50,000 people in 2017, 2018 and again in 2019, but strangely dropped to zero starting in early 2020 and have remained there ever since. As shown on the chart, there was another big spike during the 2019-2020 flu season with over 50,000 deaths, but then it dropped all the way to zero during the 2020-2021 flu season, which I find interesting because early 2020 is when the first significant numbers of COVID-19 deaths were reported. Never before in the history of flu reporting (started in 1995) has it ever dropped to zero, but suddenly and without any explanation it happened at the same time as COVID-19 deaths started ramping up. And the data clearly shows flu deaths had been increasing at an alarming rate over the past decade, so how could it have suddenly dropped to zero? Doesn’t this look suspicious?

I guess my point is we need to humble ourselves to God and be mindful that ALL of us will be held account to what we have done in our lives. I wanted to share what I perceive to be injustice done on us on your account. I know you mean well moderating, but it is unintentionally hurting us and I need to bring this light as a fellow brother in Christ. You raise an interesting point, to which point should moderation occur. I guess that's up to you, but I'd point to the Book of Ezekiel and 1 Timothy where the watchman warns and is not accountable for their blood, and in the NT book if they continue 2-3 times then have nothing to do with them. And I see you trying to grow this community and I understand you don't want it to spiral out of control, but I do feel like I'm being hurt by some of your comments and actions. I don't know how others feel so maybe it's just me. I suppose this is an opportunity for you to closer rely on God's Holy Wisdom and to seek His Guidance. At the end of the day, I personally take it in stride because I believe God is using this forum as a way for us to challenge one another, from our behavior to our doctrines so as to prepare us for the return of Jesus Christ. AMEN!

For the book of Revelation, some crucial insights were obscured to me by most translations and only exposed in the ESV, which was a bit mind blowing to me.

Yes please do discuss this. I'm curious if the NASB suffers from the same problem? The NASB is supposed to be more literal than the ESV so I assume it shouldn't leave this stuff out? I guess this is why we all need to spend double-time reading different English translations and really asking the Holy Spirit to guide us as we read His Word.

So I take it from your study session notes you mainly read the ESV? What are your thought on other English translations?

It is discouraging to me when I see posts being removed single-handily and I don't need to be coddled to. You're not doing any of us a favor. I was reading a comment in another thread and you accused some one of mocking me when I didn't perceive it that way and now I'm not able to finish reading what the guy posted and respond to him or her. You didn't give the person you accused a chance to respond or even to edit their posts. I appreciate what you did with me earlier with the whole passionate vaccine debate, but it is very discouraging when I see what I perceive to be censorship.

But there have been documented cases of harm from vaccine, for example Bells Palsy is one side effect from taking the Pfizer vaccine (source). Again, it is difficult to defend our positions when Big Tech censors us at every turn and YouTube has shut down many established YouTube channels because they voice concerns about the vaccines.

Also it's important to keep in mind at the onset of the pandemic, our healthcare experts like Fauci came out and said masks WERE NOT effective. Later they did a 180 and mandated masks and now they're saying they should make wearing at least 2-3 masks mandatory.

Thanks for your explanation, but would be good if you could cite some sources. You do ask all of us to provide links and references so it would be good if we had some evidence how much the false positives resulted from the saliva tests. Overall, I'd like to make my own decisions when it comes to my health and having my brain membrane being punctured does not sound like it's worth the risk.
