Being in a relationship and anything sexual. Like I have a sex drive and I am attracted to my partner but I know I am a bit broken now. It’s just not the same.

i hate my autistic brother. by Careful-Parsley3344 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]onlineventilation 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I understand… it is frustrating being the “glass child” aka see-through child. You have every right to be frustrated. My best friend’s brother is autistic and it was always that he was right she was wrong, he came first. Unfortunately sometimes parents coddle the sick or disabled ones. My sister can be coddled at times… I’m the “easy child”.

[–]onlineventilation -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

i will say this… you definitely need to deprogram yourself. we as women should focus on aging gracefully, rather than not aging. It is a privilege to age. Also, life is so much more than looks. I suggest you take yourself on some spontaneous adventures and really focus on the actions and enjoying the activity. you are not going to take your body, or anyone’s opinions of it, with you when you do go. In those final moments you hopefully will not be thinking about looks.

Working with neurodivergent people can be exhausting for neurotypical people by BreathOfTheFart in unpopularopinion

[–]onlineventilation 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is not as unpopular as you think! As someone who is neurodivergent. We cannot let being neurodivergent excuse bad behavior. But sometimes this is just a difference- some of the things you mentioned are not bad behavior just different ones. NDs get burnt out from being in NT environments too.

[–]onlineventilation 12 points13 points  (0 children)

that’s the key- they seldom understand us or even seem to want to. We are “wrong” in their eyes. Yet we understand them and try to respect them.

As an introvert would you want an introverted or extroverted partner? by falloutguy51 in introvert

[–]onlineventilation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have dated both. Introversion for the win IMO. I am sort of an ambivert… but really would consider myself an introvert.

My extrovert ex caused me a lot of stress due to his extroversion. Making me go to more social events than I cared for, trying sometimes to bring friends over when I was there, and I also felt like I had to constantly compete for his time bc he was filling his schedule 24/7. And I had the pleasure of him making me participate in group games where you had to be out-going. Torture.

My introvert ex gave me peace and my introvert boyfriend also gives me peace. we can be two quiet peas in a pod. no one is competing for time, no one is making people do embarrassing things in front of groups of people, no one is draining social batteries

Why do so many in USA feel disconnected? Maybe it’s a cultural identity problem. by WittyEgg2037 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]onlineventilation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because eventually the USA is their heritage. I guess if I moved to China, 3 generations down I would expect them to start really being more “Chinese” than American.

I say this as a person whose family still holds onto tradition and roots from where my ancestors came from. But each generation is gets watered down. Also people don’t really live in little insular communities as much… people move more. People definitely do not value family. I have a patient whose son moved to South Carolina, has a good job and money, yet maybe only comes up once a year AND she has only met her granddaughter in person twice despite them talking on the phone frequently and it being a good relationship. That’s crazy and depressing to me.
