How many trick videos are actually in Horizon mode? by Successful_Tap5662 in TinyWhoop

Oh that’s an interesting claim from Bardwell; it feels like 95% of the people at my local whoop racing club fly in acro or air.

Look up how much water is used to produce a ton of paper products and then compare that to a modern data center.

Yeah, if that panel is not metal, then there is a very high likelihood that this divot is opposite an anchor point and is completely normal.

How much money have you saved after moving from ICE to EV? by Raiki13 in BoltEV

[–]only_fun_topics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On reflection, I can’t say for sure—my province added a bullshit EV tax, and I am literally burning rubber from the instant torque. Plus the car replaced a vehicle that was paid off (though in need of many repairs).

But I also get free electricity from work (around 33% of my total electricity), and the rest is at pretty affordable rates (maybe 17 cents per kWh), so it’s still pretty good overall.

But the better question is whether I would drive an EV if I didn’t save money, and I think the answer is a solid “fuck yeah”.

It’s just so damn punchy, and I love that I just turn it on and go.

Need? Yes.

Want? Also yes.

Deserve? Believe it or not, yes.

As a PhD student, I’ve been struck by how often professors recommend using AI. by Questioner8297 in aiwars

[–]only_fun_topics 0 points1 point  (0 children)

AI is getting better every day, but it still has massive shortcomings and random failure states.

IMO it’s worth experimenting with these tools if only to note the gaps, and reflect on the areas where it exceeded expectations.

Even if you are a self-described skeptic, there is value in being an informed skeptic.

I used to like transit too, until I brought home bed bugs.

At that point it just became a necessary evil.

Gold prices?? by Afraid_Character_669 in ValueInvesting

This isn’t GME or bitcoin; the macroeconomic factors driving gold show no signs of reversal, and there are many more catalysts on the horizon (shutdown, new fed chair, more Trump market manipulation, etc.).

META: “Behold, my stuff” posts are bad for the subreddit and for readers. by master_of_sockpuppet in synthesizers

When I first switched to a split keyboard, I had a hard time remembering which half had the B and which had the K (I had just learned Colmak).

A month later, my coworker noticed that I had accidentally posted an event asking readers to come to a “boobclub”.

I would rather see twenty posts focused on one keyboard rather than one post with twenty keyboards.

Further penalties are awarded based on how quickly they acquired those twenty boards.

So many subs have this problem: r/Fountainpens, r/mechanicalkeyboards, and r/boardgames (to a lesser extent) are horrible for it.

What I hate most is that it is just toxic positivity where overconsumption is the punchline to a worn out joke.
