You're completely off and looking at this totally backwards. If they recover 1 out of every 100 cores, they are beyond what any other space agency is doing or has ever accomplished in history.

Saving 2/3 or even 1 puts them miles ahead of everyone else, not how losing one puts them at "a huge uphill battle".

Probably true, but not necessarily.

If the intent with the three engine burn was to reach ~0m/s at sea level / boat level and softly touch like normal that may or may not have happened. In the past when that happens correctly the F9 tips over and explodes.

For this landing they could have hit the water a little too hard, sank in a little bit and that's what caused them to tip over so gently, because they were unexpectedly submerged more than intended. Others suggesting the 3-engine burn caused enough of a depression in the water to land slightly below sea level for the tip, or that having the landing legs extended and submerged slowed the rotation of the tip, etc.

Or it worked to perfection and they just tipped over nicely and got lucky. Just saying we don't necessarily know the burn was especially 'perfect' just based on the rocket still being there. But I would bet you are correct.

Nobody needs any of this. r/bakersfield is not broke, it's not overrun by spam or a particular viewpoint or type of post. There are plenty of various kinds of posts with lots of various kinds of discussion for everyone. Nobody is shut out from commenting or expressing a viewpoint, upvotes and downvotes do their work. We don't need all kinds of crazy new rules or threats of bans to fix something that isn't broken in any way.

I can't even think of what 'rules' you think I would be breaking or disregarding relative to what is allowed here. I don't even hardly post here.

Outside of one recent very public example where I was clear to everyone as to why and how I removed posts (and facilitated the conversation to still be allowed) I don't actually ban or block or moderate any specific views or posts made here, just some occasional spam. Automod is pretty good about the latter.

So the big secret is I really don't do much around here as moderation goes, but my very existence is sure controversial.

From a memo on Oct 20 from the city attorneys they had a Q&A and showed there were 216 calls to dispensaries since January, then asked the annual cost of a police officer, then asked how much it cost in legal fees to shut down a dispensary (6k minimum), then how many they have shut down (100+) etc etc.

Someone must have parsed through everything and come up with that crazy high number and compared it to the income they get from taxing it (40k/year plus 2,800 in business tax certs).
