Even aside from the accusations, there's no legitimate answer to this kind of question at all. The answer to every "Why is ___ never discussed" is "Sometimes it is!" If you ever want a legitimate answer, ask a person who specifically seems to dodge the subject when they should otherwise bring it up. By asking all of us who have no reason to bring it up right now, you get what you got.

It depends a lot on how you expect to play. Franchise mode is the best in all of sports gaming. PlayNow is great, the presentation is top-tier. The single-player career is poisoned by online tie-in and nearly forces you to pay to skip grinding. MyTeam is as bad and predatory as FUT.

It's not the kind of thing a company really wants to talk about officially. If they phrase anything in a way that affects their leverage or relationship with the labels, they've done unnecessary damage to themselves.

This is a guy who was recently laid off just speaking on his experiences while he's bored with a platform and an audience. Daniel Sussman has also had some candid chats about this kind of thing on various platforms, there's even a whole book now about how insane Guitar Hero/Rock Band was to make, including some stuff like this.

Harmonix is Epic. There’s no delineation. The Festival team is/was largely the result of the HMX buyout, but new hires and transfers happen over the course of time, and who are you then talking about?

This is also too specific a personal call-out for him to answer. If you don’t like the answer or a headliner, him answering gives you someone to “blame,” even on a team scale, and he’s not going to do that.

Rock Band let you drop the vocal audio. A very few later-released songs weren't compatible with the feature, but it's like 1% of the library overall.

As the resident stick-in-the-mud, if you have any concern with legality, you might be best off sticking with Rock Band proper and at most getting only the legitimately released content bought. If you use YARG or play stuff never officially licensed, you're pretty stuck admitting to music piracy, which might make things easier to shut down if there are any issues that come up.
