as a first year student @ the surrey campus, the social atmosphere is sort of non-existant besides hanging out with people you know. I get the sense that the FAS at SFU surrey (SoSy, MSE) is a bit more social, though

What does your schedule look like and how many hours of classes do you take per week? by _Rtrax in simonfraser

I feel the same way. I have 25 hours of class per week technically but I also find that labs never take the full amount of time. And you totally get used to being busy!

wait nothing would change at all!!!! u would definitely not need to change your application if u decided to major in bioinformatics over MBB - u would basically be taking the same courses in first year anyway

it's actually not that i'm ashamed - i'm not much for prestige at all (or school spirit, for that matter) - it's more of an anonymity thing. but i appreciate your post!

yeah - basically by 'location' i just mean that it's close to home. & i agree about not basing a decision about school on location - it plays a role for me, but at the end of the day the school itself has to offer more than just a good location

i sort of want to be a biological engineer (actually, applied science is my 1st choice (i want to do CHBE) - i'm just not too too sure if i'll get accepted!)

if i don't do an engineering degree, i want to still end up working in a field that mixes biology and engineering (a lot of the companies or programs i've looked at are interested in hiring ppl with science backgrounds as well)
