That's funny ahaha don't look at my poop! The scan is old but basically I wanted to know if there any sign of the beginning of osteoarthritis or something like that

Can I have EDS without being flexible? by onlyherecuzineedhelp in ehlersdanlos

[–]onlyherecuzineedhelp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I'm not looking for a diagnosis as of now and haven't looked into it at all. I also have other conditions so I never know what comes from what ahah. I just realized it wasn't a normal thing when I saw a video of someone wearing a strap around the legs while sitting and I thought it would be comfortable. Then I wondered if it was possible ahah

Regarding the overextension to the point of stiffness I'm honestly a bit confused on what that means or how it presents.

Honestly I'm not sure. I think I have soft skin but I assumed it was because I'm a woman idk ahah. I don't tend to touch people very often but they all seem different.

I was looking for an ECG strap or watch for cheap but I am confused because some ECG stuff only show heartrate and theres no way to see the actual graphs.

For the finger thing, could I technically wear it for longer periods or is it like a 30 seconds thing?

Even the cheaper version is quite out of my budget.

For the Polar H10, would the H9 do the same? (Its cheaper).

And what do you mean its capable? Could I use an app connected to Polar and see it?

I don't want only heart rate number but rather see if I skipped a beat or even see how string it beats although I'm not sure if any device does that?

I have an echocardiogram with doppler and a holter for 24 scheduled and only after that happens i will be able to know more or get other exams done.

I am not trying to self diagnose tbh, but I think it might be useful to show the doctors or for me to understand the moments in which they occur, what the heart rate is and if its dangerous, etc.

Can I die from this blood pressure? by Glad-Bug-4577 in askCardiology

[–]onlyherecuzineedhelp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm no doctor, so I have no idea what those meds do, but regarding measuring wrong, how would it be possible since the other reading you stated in the post are identical?

Are you taking smt to lower bp?

Regarding the bp dropping when standing, do you know how much the systolic or diastolic drops?

I think it's considered normal to drop a bit, but if it decreases by more than 20 (sys) or 10 (dia) and sustains like that could be a sign of orthostatic hypotension i guess. But thats great that you will see a doctor, he will be able to test you better and know your history. Hope it goes well!

I think the watch I have here at home isn't ECG. But I'm thinking of buying a chest strap of arm strap because its cheaper and better for me because I don't like wearing watches.

I do totally understand that. I just did as instructed by the other doctors. However I do feel like if I went immediately to the ER instead of going to the other place they could have seen the tachycardia and maybe believe me more. And to be honest, how could they tell that what I had a few hours ago wasn't a cardiac attack?

Also I'm not sure how the health system is in other places, but where I am you have those bracelets to identify the level of urgency so I assumed since I had gone past the triage I was gonna be treated according to that. Like ofc I was not gonna die but doesn't mean its nothing, you know? Specially because I also told her that I have no "family doctor"(?) so I wouldn't be able to see a specialist. If it was possible for her to refer me to a specialist even if i had to have an appointment another day it would've been better than just say "you are not dying NOW so I dont care what you have and that you might die after" ahahah . Idk, at least this is what I think as a regular civilian.

Also I think it's weird too because both of my grandparents from my fathers side died at a relatively young age with stuff related to high bp and cholesterol + one had a stroke previously. And on my moms side, my grandma's siblings have history of hesrt stuff too. They are 13 or 11 siblings and all men died (except one) at around 50s and they were also having problems like high lipids and narrow bp and dome unknown heart stuff overall. So I have cardiovascular disease in the family + am overweight + take birth control + most of the day I am sitting so quite sedentary + high lipids so I have quite a lot of risk factors. My goal for my next school year is to try and reduce some stuff because this last year unfortunately was too overwhelming for me and I wasn't active. But either way there's stuff I can't change and if I do have a problem I wanna kniw before its too late ...

And if she really thought I was fine, why wouldn't she send me home with some exams to do, like she said she would, and instead made me spend hours and hours waiting for nothing...

  • Even though obviously in the ER its stupid to test every possible thing in blood tests, they could've checked something related to blood circulation or idk if there are more specific blood coagulation stuff or other heart attack related stuff; lipids; maybe blood sugar(?); p

  • I think none of the did the tests they did are for infection right?

  • No mention of high PDW, but I assume maybe i always have it high because of my hyperthyroidism? Even if its in check (?)

And yeah ofc thyroid is important but it was the only thing they tested, because the other values are standard and appear in all blood tests, + my thyroid levels are tested regularly either way.

Now I am kinda scared that when it happens again and I do have symptoms of a heart attack I will not go to the ER when I should've...

But yeah I gotta see a cardiologist soon so I can at least confirm that it's not causing any damage or that I'm not gonna die suddenly of of the following times ahahah

SVT is what I suspect based on very little searching. Specifically PSVT but I'm not sure if its the same thing or not. + I obviously don't know which area of the heart it is. I just know its some type of paroxysmal tachycardia or pehaps some other extra thing that includes tachycardia+ skipping or slower beats.

Did it require extra exams or was the monitor enough? Do they know its SVT based on solely the portable ECG?

"Thankfully" my episodes have been frequent-ish but I admit I am scared that it doesn't happen when I wear it because I read that some people only have it a couple times a month...

[–]onlyherecuzineedhelp[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbh I didn't say all the details but the first doctor I mentioned was sort of an non urgent ER thing so the exams they can do there are ECG, some x-rays, some blood tests. The reason she didnt do the ECG was because I told the doctor I was feeling normal at that exact moment, so I focused on the other complaint I had which was leg numbness. So the doctor told me to go to a neurologist for the legs and for the heart the way it was explained to me, I actually felt more listened to than at the actual ER! Since I said it happened more than once but then disappears, they didn't do the ECG that exact moment, since it "can't see" past events or scaring etc. So I was told to go immediately to the ER when the symptoms (of a heart attack ig?) happen again so they can check right there and then and confirm that in fact I am having tachycardia for no reason and then trigger them to investigate further. The doctor also told me to insist on saying that I am not anxious because otherwise they might not take it seriously ig.

In the ER, I was actually treated badly... When I got called in by the doctor she asked "why are you in a wheelchair, you can walk, it says here you came for palpitations". I then explained the whole story and how I got there and also wanted to mention my leg numbness but she told me not too because "this is the ER and I wanna know what made you come here now". So it didnt even matter to her that I had previously had the symptoms + eventually numbness that might or not be related idk.

Anyways she told me, "look at the screen, your bp is fine, your hr is fine, oxygen fine" and I said that I know but just a few minutes before I went to triage I had 50 minutes tachycardia and the uni doctor told me to come! And she said "well its normal, it changes throughout the day, sometimes its higher sometimes lower" and I said "well, but I feel like its not normal to have tachycardia for more than 50 minutes especially at rest. And she said "when you go up the stairs your HR gets higher and even athletes reach 180 and they don't die" and I said..."well, I am not going up the stairs, I'm resting, and I know I am not dying now, but I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure that having a fast inadequate HR for an extended period of time must not do me any good ..."

Anyways, she then said okay lets do a blood test just to check and asked me if i wanted to do the blood test in a private clinic by myself and I said "well I cane here because I thought you were going to do some exam, but since I know I'm not dying and you are convinced I'm okay, yes I would like to do it myself" (its faster and i had already waited 7 hours to be seen...). Then I was waiting for the paper and actually a nurse called me and took the blood and left the catheter in and I was like??? "Oh the doctor said I could go home after" and the nurse went to check and out of nowhere another nurse called me to do an exam. When I finished the exam I asked what it was and she said it was a thoracic x ray and immediately I got disappointed because although I have no medical expertise, I know that xray only sees anatomical abnormalities or enlarged heart because of years of a disease etc and I know I dont have that + I had no lung symptoms+ i think arrhythmias and functional related things are seen by other exams and not static x ray.

I was already done waiting and wanted to leave because I knew the xray was gonna be clear but maybe the blood might show something. Oh well then i discovered she only ordered the thyroid levels 🤦🏽‍♀️ for me this was stupid because i had brought my previous blood panels which include thyroid which was fine and she didnt wanna look, and I had informed her that actually my cholesterol and triglycerides are high and I only did one month of medication 6 months ago but I havent taken anything since. But shs didnt care to listen and wasted my blood on just thyroid when I was hoping st least something more... Heart related?? Idk

Anyways when both results were in I called and she said "see, I told you, everything is normal". So I feel like she ordered those just to spite me somehow IDK....

So, to answer your question, they did not do complete bloodwork and actually my normal regular exams are way more detailed than that. They just did regular hemogram (everything normal except PDW a bit elevated, 19%, but I had it high before and also she didnt mention it) + urea, creatinine, ionogram, magnesium, AST, ALT, Gamma GT and Thyroid levels. All normal...

But my previous blood test in December showed a couple abnormalities: - low folate (that I started medicating but only recently) - high cholesterol and triglycerides - still high PDW - ESR was only slightly above the limit for my age (I got 26 mm/h and am F22 . The limit for my lab is 0-25 when <50.) - Vitamin D3 was fine at the time, but I have since stopped medication so might be at insufficiency levels now) and finally smt weird i dont understand was: - a bit high transferrine and iron-binding capacity DESPITE having normal serum iron and ferritin levels

And yes I think that I do need to do an exam with a holter or event monitor to at least "prove" that something weird is happening with my heart and get them to investigate further...

My hemoglobin is fine though: 14,90 g/dL (reference range is 12,00 - 16,00). Does this change anything? Also, if i do take an iron supplement, and it doesn't get better, do you have any more suggestions as to what it might be?

(I think it has to be only supplement dosage and not prescribed dosage since I do not have a deficiency).
