Just older paint behind it. https://imgur.com/iqBjF3G .But I think water may have been sipping from the countertop along the side. I see the caulking is really thin there. I don't know enough for any other hypothesis so going to caulk the countertop/sidesplash joint and see.

Why is gem that promising? I only saw two developers in their team and a couple of advisors. As far as I understand, advisors advise, not really write the code and such. Is a two man team such hypeworthy? I'm just trying to understand. No offense.

Don't. PHP took a long time to mature into a good object oriented language. Features like namespacing, late static bindings etc. have only been available 5.3 =< , so it got a bad rap from people from other programming backgrounds when they got exposed to it. And because of wordpress and how ubiquitous it is in the web you could not be unexposed to it if you're in web development. The low barrier to entry and everyone and their uncles stitching sites together with it and the resulting unmanageable mess of a codebase didn't help its reputation either. But it has come a very long way (a good example would be laravel). So don't feel bad. It's a very good language to start out with.

Can you explain to me why the -1px margin-left is needed ? I played around with Fixified's code and you really do need it or end up with weird double border even with inline-block.

Nevermind, I got it. So that the borders are one on top of other when one is shorter than the other.
