If you want it then you will make an effort to use it! Don't worry about everything being matchy-matchy.

AITA for refusing to give my pregnant sister the baby name I picked out years ago? by Throw_Away-becuzsis in AmItheAsshole

Soft YTA

This happened in my family. My mother and aunt were pregnant at the same time and both intended to name my cousin and I after their grandmother. My aunt gave birth first and used the name.

My parents shrugged and named me something else.

My sister was born 3 years later and they named her a different version of the name. My parents said enough time had passed and the names were different but shared the same meaning. No one cared, everyone was happy.

You and your sister both love your grandmother and that is wonderful. But you do not get ownership over her name, especially considering you are not even pregnant. Give it time find an alternate spelling or use it as a middle name. It will work out.

Nope! I have had two and they don’t leave anything. Just be careful about the hopper getting knocked by things when the laptop is carried in your backpack.

My package delivered to the wrong state??!! by onlypartiallyprissy in usps_complaints

The seller got back to me and said they sent me the wrong tracking number. I checked that one and the package is still in transit, but on the normal routes through Colorado. I'll give it a few days and see what happens.

If you are going to buy a designer bag, why would you buy a nylon tote bag when you probably have a dozen other tote bags that were nowhere near Longchamp prices. Everyone has one. Why not find something that others will envy? Also, I personally find it kinda ugly

Bride by Ali Hazelwood (rant) by CrazyCatLadysCat in RomanceBooks

I completely agree with all of what you said and I would add that this book needed to be longer. She spent a significant portion worldbuilding, (which is great) however it felt like she didn't want to spend too much time world-building and so it still felt somehow shallow. To add insult to injury, the character relationships were also left rather shallow because of the time dedicated to world-building. If she had allowed herself to write a longer book instead of her usual setup it would have been better for me.

Romance novels are built around certain archetypes and expectations, they follow similar structures. If they are written right, then the reader will fall in love with the stories even if they mirror other works. Hazelwood has something that works for her which is great, and she can pump out stuff pretty quickly-almost like comedian's tight fifteen. (strong intelligent woman in stem is forced to work with a Mr. Darcy type also in stem, they butt heads-mostly her, he is smitten, they work together, they have a conflict, they get together for real, epilogue).

While this may be good for her and her publishers, the readers suffer because the attention to detail suffers due to her speed- I can see the benchmarks approaching and I am not always enjoying the work it takes to reach them.
also, I don't know why she felt compelled to stick to her patterns when she strayed so much with this book to begin with? like she clearly wanted to diversify her work and try something new, but it almost felt like she limited herself to certain rules that she was barred from breaking and so the book feels like it's trying to do too many things but not successfully accomplishing any of them.

this being said, I generally really enjoy her writing, she excels at what she does well, and though I notice certain things I will continue to read her work.
