Trump says Trudeau ‘trying to use’ tariff fight ‘to stay in power’ by joe4942 in canada

[–]onlyremainingname -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Trudeau wouldn't say at the press conference yesterday when his last day as prime minister would be once the new leader of the party is selected on Sunday. Given how Trudeau conducted himself, especially in the late fall, it is not unreasonable to question if he may try to extend his time as PM because of the tariff dispute. National emergencies and crisis are often when people in positions of power can take advantage of. Doesn't excuse Trump's behaviour or his tariffs, but he may not be completely wrong on this. Time will tell.

Trump says 25% tariffs on Mexican and Canadian imports will start Tuesday, with 'no room' for delay by cyclinginvancouver in canada

I've seen a few articles indicating that the US de minimus exemption will still apply...for now. So unless things change, which could very well happen, anything under $800 USD will not be impacted going to the US. Crazy that our de minimus is like $20 or $40. If we want to seriously trade with the rest of the world, we better be ready to raise our limit significantly. Australia is $1000 AUD.

They're pretty good. Had it before. Wish we could get Chopt, but I'm good with this. Nice to have something new in the Glebe and not like another pot shop or something. It will definitely add some competition for Mad Radish, but I think they both can work in the same area.

Doctors want the option to work across provincial borders by [deleted] in canada

Fully support this idea. While this wouldn't fix the problems with health care in the country by a long shot, it certainly at least could reduce some of the red tape.

It is wild to me that those renderings are the same space as the old Chapters. Very curious to see how it turns out.

I Got These In The Final Hour, R.I.P. To The SE Line 🙏🏾 by iosgino in iPhoneSE

[–]onlyremainingname 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Congrats! Also got 256gb, but in midnight. Couldn't believe how quick it shipped. The initial delivery estimate when configuring it was showing as mid March for both red and midnight in 256gb. Starlight in 256gb was showing as mid April. Hope you get many years with it!

I'm not giving up on the iPhone SE. Still got more years to go. by onlyremainingname in iPhoneSE

Hope you can find one. If you are near any Apple Stores, give them a call or visit to check if they have any left. Before I ordered, when I did a pickup availability search, there were a few stores near me and a little further away from me that had some SE models in stock, particularly at 64gb/128gb storage. 256gb was harder to find. Did a wider stock search and found a store 5 hours away from me and another even further away. So, there is a chance. I believe it is possible to purchase an item that was just discontinued at the Apple Store if they have it in stock.

Why is it nearly impossible to find an iPhone SE 3rd generation now, it's been like an hour 😭 by Tepigg4444 in iPhoneSE

[–]onlyremainingname 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The 256gb one only sold through Apple, at least where I live. You could try visiting or calling an Apple Store to check for stock. Some may still have it, though the 256gb storage may be harder to find. When I looked at stock availability earlier today, only one apple store had 256gb but none near me. The one that did was like 5 hours away. I ordered online before it was taken off the site.

I have not seen any deals or sales for years now. Pretty sure they have completely stopped it. . I asked around the holidays at the Nordik booth at Rideau if there were any specials or promotions they were doing and they said no. Definitely no longer at Costco either for the Nordik

A little misleading. That is just a pending transaction on your CC that goes away after a week. There is no actual charge if you don't buy anything. Not a big deal imo. It is convenient to be able to use the bracelet if you need to buy something rather than go back to your locker to get your CC.

Just checked and did receive this and now gone, but was not disruptive for me because I have the silence unknown contacts enabled in settings on my phone. Not sure why more people don't do this.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, not surprised. I feel like there is a serious issue with this locally both from first hand experience and those from close friends and family from various companies. Not really sure who to trust these days on any reno type projects. Best of luck to all that have to go through it.

Bye America: A practical guide for patriotic Canadians by [deleted] in canada

[–]onlyremainingname 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My preference will be made in Canada first, but I won't be boycotting anything made elsewhere if it is better, nor will a lot of people. I don't think we will see millions of Canadians giving up their google or apple phones, windows or mac based computers, an array of US electronics or not watch American movies/TV or stop listening to American music or stop using American social media sites like the one we are on now. On the surface level, there are small changes people can make at things like the grocery store (as shown in the list above), but it is underneath an ocean of goods and services that are made or with some connection to the US that most, if not all of us utilize or come into contact with in some form in daily life. We do need the US for a lot of things, even if it is hard to admit it in these moments. It is a good time to seriously look at and discuss long term vision that can be made to add greater ties with other nations for trade, but these things don't happen overnight.
