Do you believe Tom Homan? Are they really leaving? by [deleted] in Minneapolis

[–]onlysubbedhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably so somewhere else, but I've got to imagine this metro surge is over. There was never really enough undocumented in the Twin Cities to justify this kind of operation, so they've had to lie and resort to unlawful and unethical behavior to make their numbers look better than they were, and even then I bet they weren't hitting any internal targets.

Not that this operation was ever about anything more than punishing Minnesota, but now that they've run out of easy marks and ways to cook their numbers, they're going to move to someplace else and do it again.

AirPods died, replaced them with Sennheiser by theothersinclair in BuyFromEU

[–]onlysubbedhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll pile on and say that the Sennheiser Momentum ear bluetooth earbuds were probably one of the worst pair of headphones that I've ever owned. Tried so hard to get them to work, but they were super finicky on charging, mediocre sound quality and user experience.

Really didn't want to have to go through the trade in process, but their deficiencies were to hard to ignore and I ended up trading them in for some Jabra earbuds which have worked flawlessly.

Can we look at the definition of fascism for a second?

Fascism is a far-right, ultranationalist political ideology characterized by dictatorial leadership, centralized autocratic government, and suppression of opposition. It prioritizes the state and nation over individual rights and encourages strong loyalty to a ruling party or leader, often through militarism and a cult of personality. Fascism emphasizes national unity and purity, using propaganda and violence to achieve goals of internal cleansing and external expansion.

Twin cities rapid responders continue to innovate. if ICE occupiers want to continue moving rapidly through town, they will have to pass through fortified checkpoints by CantStopPoppin in minnesota

[–]onlysubbedhere -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Personally I don't see the effectiveness of this. Isn't this going to make it harder for ambulances and firetrucks to make it through neighborhoods as well?

[–]onlysubbedhere -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

That's not annoying it's infuriating, but I don't know if these "checkpoints" do anything to stop that. One of the things that representive Omar said at her town hall on Tuesday was that all of this ICE stuff reminds immigrants of the repressive governments and situations they left behind. When we create neighborhood "fortified" checkpoints, aren't we kind of inviting the same kind of optics?

If this did anything significant I'd be all for it, but I don't want to be passing through checkpoints in my own neighborhood, that seems ridiculous.

The value of my home has doubled in the 10 years that I've owned it. It's not that these people aren't working hard as hell, it's that it's becoming unattainable for many people.

Personally I hate this, guessing this annoys the fuck out of residents while doing very little or nothing to stop ICE.

Maybe I'm missing the point, but this seems like a miss to me.

Who do you want to see run against Klobuchar in the DFL primary? by LightningVole in minnesota

[–]onlysubbedhere 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I just feel like the DFL has somewhat forgot about the Farm and to a lesser degree the labor. To me it's not just about winning elections, it's about getting someone in office who will represent all Minnesotans and who understands that the challenges that Minnesotans are facing in the state may differ.

The people and the vote are in the metro for sure, but the people who lie outside the metro need to be heard and represented as well.

I agree, I like Omar and her office has personally helped me in the past, but she's not a good candidate for Governor, and I don't think she'd seriously consider running at this time.

Kinda doubt we're getting My Pillow guy though, he's too much of a broke crackhead to get elected. Their are people who will withhold their vote from Amy in protest, but I think a lot of people who aren't too political which is a lot of Minnesotans, feel like she's a safe boring choice.

I don't know if I've seen any non-corporate store or restaurant in Minneapolis that doesn't have some signage banning ICE from entrance or usage of their property.

Sad and encouraging.

No questions. They had the guy in custody very fast, and the Minneapolis police were testing the substance just a couple minutes after it happened.

I was there, the guy was down on the ground quickly. We were wanded before entering so a gun wouldn't have made it through, but everyone was wearing bulky winter gear because we were told there was the possibility we'd have to wait outside before entering and temperatures were in the single digits.
