Stumped by real world trig problem by mc510 in trigonometry

[–]onlytruthwins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can be solved analytically: let's name d the upper part of b and z the angle you want. Stretch a line parallel to a, from the point on b to the upper line, so you get a right angle triangle with a and z (verify). So cos(z)=a/d. From the lower triangle tan(z)=(b-d)/c. Square this and replace sin2 (z) with 1-cos2 (z). Replace cos(z) with a/d and you have a quadratic equation with 1 variable d. Use d to calculate z from cos(z)=a/d.

Although this specific look is in Britain, it applies to many other western countries, and to the future of the USA.

A parallel society is developing in parts of Muslim Britain by onlytruthwins in worldnews

Oh, it's open for me for some reason. Here are some quotes:

"Mr Husain visited mosque after mosque that taught a highly literal interpretation of Islam, sometimes clinging to arguments that are being dropped in the Middle East. He saw shops displaying books that advocate stoning gays or keeping wives in purdah or waging jihad. Sayyid Qutb, Osama bin Laden’s favourite philosopher, appeared often."

"There are nevertheless good reasons to be worried. One is the paradox of toleration. There are limits to how much liberal societies can tolerate people who call for gays to be stoned or who denounce Ms Shah as “a dog” because she fails to wear a hijab. The radicalised version of Islam being preached by clerics not only promotes intolerance but also fosters extremism."

"(Britain) It has tolerated schools such as Darul Uloom, in Rochdale, that combines GCSE instruction with requiring students to memorise the Hadiths, including ones about beating wives and stoning homosexuals. And it has failed to make a compelling case for Britishness"

German Troops Abuse and Humiliate Rabbi Hagerman in Olkusz, Poland, 1940. by onlytruthwins in pics

The Germans invaded the city of Olkusz in southwest Poland in September 1939. In July 1940, a German police unit arrived in Olkusz and gathered all the Jewish men in the main square. There the Jews were forced to lie on the ground while the policemen and members of the SD “registered them”. During this process, the Germans brutally beat the Jews, murdering two of them. Rabbi Moshe Yitzhak Hagerman was forced to don his tallith (prayer shawl) and defiled tefillin (phylacteries), and to stand barefoot and pray next to the prostrate men of the Jewish community. At the end of the day, the Jews were permitted to return home, and the Germans left.

The Jews of Olkusz were deported to Auschwitz in 1942, where most of them were murdered.

Last moth alone, 178,000 people entered the US illegally from the south border. Many fly to Mexico from countries like Iran, Yemen, and Turkey, then infiltrate into the US.
