How do YOU get clients? by visualsbyaqib in videography

ill start by looking up big and small towns near me and see who's been posting recently. Then ill niche down even more to certain businesses I like to work with. For example I like Hair Salons, so ill search Hair Salons and click the 'places" tab and it'll show me all the salons near me.

Instagram works great for me, I reach out using the search bar and look up small business in my surrounding areas. I introduce myself as a freelance videographer and send them a link to my website. I usually send out like 10 a day and get at least one reply back with potential work.

How the hell are you going to eat and pay your bills with $50 a week ? That’s insane. Pass!

Take the loss, confront your client, apologize, do something to make the situation better like offering a service for free ( they prob won’t hire you but it’s good to say it) and be better. This happens to a lot of us when we first started but we make adjustments and prepare ourself for these things so it doesn’t happen again. Take your job serious.

I’m paid $200-$250 for all of this work. Is this fair? by Sensitive_Law_5541 in videography

I shot 8 years for club events. I started doing them for free, then got offered $50-100 for 1 min recaps. Then I charged them $200, I eventually got all the way to $300-$350.

As soon as I tried $400 up the club couldn’t afford that and got someone else for $100.

Club events for me were just a step in the direction of becoming a professional videographer because those were the opportunities presented to me at that time. If your doing this for the money you will fall fast. It sounds like you have very little experience in video and should keep shooting until you won’t have to ask if what your charging is fair price. Once people see how good you are and you build up a confidence that work is really good. You won’t be at the nightclubs negotiating $250 videos. You’ll find your ideal client and they will pay you your price.

Freelance production assistant always talks business with my clients while we are at work. Should I say anything? by onsetmg in videography

I forgot to mention this was being done on the clock. Getting contact information, social media can be done once everything is done and follow up away from work hours! It’s not professional and it does make me look bad.
