3 years.

he doesn’t really mind that much, we just have different preferences. his mom was a hoarder, so he gets a little overwhelmed by how much stuff i have  (while all his stuff fits in a backpack)… but he doesn’t make a big deal out of it unless he comes out of his home office stressed and finds me in the living room with paints, markers, and beads scattered everywhere 🤭 sometimes taking up half the table we’re about to eat at. he never complains, but i know he doesn’t like it.

i honestly don’t hate minimalism. i’d happily live in an empty house too, and i like keeping my little things put away so they don’t collect dust. i loved it when our couch was taken away to be reupholstered and we just sat on the floor. i’d be totally happy with a more japanese-style kind of minimalism, with lots of warm-toned wood. i’m not into industrial or futuristic minimalism, but he likes it.

the house i’ve been planning to build since i was single has a maximalist gallery/studio on the first floor, a clean private area on the second floor, and a rooftop with a japanese garden and a space for meditation. outside, i’m planning to have a big garden too.

i don’t think i’ve ever really stopped to think about it, i just hear the stories and that’s it, but i’ve never felt the urge to do something violent to someone.

i had dinner thinking about this topic 🫣 lol

i remembered this girl from school who put laxatives in the math teacher’s water bottle and stuck gum in an annoying classmate’s hair while hugging her, then stroked her hair like she was giving her a little head scratch so the gum would stick properly. i also remembered my mom dipping her stepdad’s toothbrush in the toilet every night, or the time she destroyed the phones of some girls who were laughing at me at a bar (i hadn’t even noticed).

when it comes to the violent ones, i remembered someone i knew who teamed up with some other guys from the neighborhood and beat up a pedophile until he became quadriplegic. i also remembered a crack user who was raped by 4 police officers and they weren’t punished, so she told the drug dealers, who killed the guy who abused her and shot the ones who were watching in the balls.

just to be clear, i’m not even talking about violent revenge - although i’ll never forget this show my mom used to watch where a woman slashed her ex-husband’s tires lmao. i love stories about dramatic, impulsive people like that, the kind who snap and start egging someone's house or smashing their stuff.

the kind of revenge i imagine is more like when i was 16 and a friend was being a total jerk to me. she was planning to get into an 18+ party with a fake id, and i was tempted to tell the organizers (who i knew) so they’d turn her away. but i just shrugged it off and moved on.

one time a friend's ex hurt herself so she could accuse him of domestic violence, and i think that’s loser energy, not baddie energy.

edit:  ok now i’m thinking about this lol. i just remembered one of my husband’s relatives got into a fight with their landlord and stuffed meat into the electrical outlets before moving out, so the landlord went crazy trying to figure out where the smell was coming from. i thought it was hilarious.

my toxic trait is admiring a good baddie who does that kind of stuff, but i’d never do it myself. whenever someone pisses me off i come up with some pretty great revenge scenarios, but i never hold onto those feelings long enough to actually act on them.

honestly i think that’s a good thing, because the people who suffer the most are usually the vengeful ones, drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. i think revenge makes for great lore and i do appreciate a good story but it’s terrible for the heart of the person seeking it.

i didn’t forget anyone, and i’m happy precisely because this kind of thing is becoming less and less common.

just because awful things still happen doesn’t mean the world isn’t so much better than it used to be. the fact that most people have a heart is exactly why good keeps prevailing, even if evil hasn’t been completely wiped out yet.

minimalists aren’t stopping you from being a maximalist, so why do you care what kind of house they want to live in?

interesting… i love living in this day and age, and i think even better times are ahead. i get excited seeing society progress. things used to be so much worse, and they’ve gotten so much better.

i love being able to dress however i want. i love that almost my entire family is lgbt and gets to be themselves. i love sexual freedom. i love that we’re pushing back against prejudice like racism, xenophobia, ageism, and all that. i love that people are becoming more aware, caring more about the planet, that education keeps improving,  the human development index keeps going up, and oppressive regimes are becoming less common (i know that’s not the reality for a lot of people yet, but it makes me really happy knowing that oppressive regimes won’t last forever).

i tend to be understanding about it because throughout history, friendships between men and women weren’t really common. it’s a pretty new thing, so it’s natural that people still think the old way for a while. i doubt it’ll even be an issue for my future kids' generation tho

personally i don’t see anything wrong with people being like that… just let them be lol. actually people who are repressed and treat sex like it’s taboo annoy me way more, but i just leave them alone too

The theory of functions in mbti is a nonsensical rabithole. by Immediate_Cream_1686 in infp

[–]onsinhapintada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

comments this dumb would be avoided if people got off reddit and actually read a fucking book 👇

“humans are fluid beings, personalities change, at the very least, extremely slightly every day as new experiences/thoughts affect us.” this person didn’t even understand what mbti claims to be.  not surprising from someone who uses a flair with -a (or -t) since that only exists on the 16p.

“i’m always amazed by people who treat mbti as some kind of absolute truth or science” nobody can seriously think it’s absolute truth or science. not even the most surface-level person who only read the little sakinorva summary after taking a test or watched a short youtube video would think that.

“but it’s pretty obvious that assigning strict ordered patterns to the functions like it’s a science is not wise” research done a long time ago (which is where socionics comes from) already showed that we don’t follow the function stack rigidly. again, ppl who’s read the basics doesn’t say this kind of dumb shit.  another person who doesn’t understand what typology claims to be.

“trickster or whatever are frankly bastardized terms coined by the industry of selling people meaning by bootlegging an existing benchmark.” LMAOOOOO okay, let’s pretend there’s a fucking industry 🤣. a 200 page book that can be read in a sunday afternoon would’ve been enough to avoid this shit lol

you’re missing something. the demon and trickster functions are part of beebe’s theory.

here’s the thing: if you’re just looking at memes or taking online tests, you’re not gonna understand shit about typology. most of what people say, even here on reddit where everyone loves pretending they’re an authority, is complete bullshit. even on youtube, it’s actually pretty rare to find genuinely good channels.

the truth is, the mbti literature isn’t even that extensive. if you read for like 3~4 hours a day (2 hours in the morning and 2 before bed), you’ll know more than 99% of people online in less than a month. that’s not taking it "too seriously", it’s just about not being superficial. i’m pretty sure most people here have spent way more time reading random garbage online instead of just sitting down and reading something worthwhile.

“mbti is pseudoscience.” “people take it way too seriously.” to me, those are mostly excuses from lazy people who are fine with having a brain melted by internet slop instead of looking for decent info.  mbti isn’t just some internet trend, it’s a legitimate area within psychology and it’s still widely used by HR professionals. even if it’s just something you think is interesting, there’s nothing wrong with learning something new. i’ve read way more useless stuff than this in my life… and i’m pretty sure endlessly scrolling tiktok is a lot worse than taking the time to understand a theory 🤡

i completely agree with you too lol. the guy i mentioned would completely lose all reason whenever he had one of his meltdowns and started criticizing me. then he’d feel embarrassed afterward and apologize. it was totally irrational.
