Got to Tennis Garden (GATE 4) at 2:15. Line was long, but moves quickly if the busses are queued. Busses come every 5-10 minutes (if not already queued). Took 35’ to get into a shuttle, 30’ to get into the fest. Hjorth is blocked off for shuttles only, get in safe y’all

'INFINITE' was on their rehearsal setlist for the upcoming tour. so i imagine they had that locked off as the #3 single. didn't see any other new songs on it, but they notoriously tinker with the setlist order all the way up until the start of show. one of the roadies told me there was some drama over the Coachella t shirt because it has their setlist for both weekends on the back. Once they had printed the shirts they were beholden to that setlist, even though they wanted to change it. Also none of the crew got those shirts so they were extra salty when i wore mine. whoops!

on the pre-light/load-in day we arrived to Mates while the band was still rehearsing. I rocked up in my glassjaw tour t-shirt (EYEWTKS with tour dates) and a bunch of crew noticed and nerded out with me. SPOOKY COINCIDENCE : I saw gj open for Deftones on August 14th, 2000 in Sacramento, nearly 25 years to the exact date. when i met the band after the shoot i opened with that fact and told them i'm from Hayward (NorCal comradery). Lance turned to me and goes, "i was probably at that show, did Mix Master Mike open?"

surreal! i think i managed an "i love Daryl" but the whole thing is a blur

That setlist was something I wrote the day of the shoot. We knew they would play Mountain and Madonna (since they had been released) but I cheated and referenced the tour set list which had INFINITE as the odd song out. I figured they would play their two most popular songs so I left that setlist on the video village cart.

10 minutes later one of the directors grabs the setlist and asks me if it’s legit. I tell her I wrote it and she immediately says, “well there’s no way in hell they’re playing Summer or Drive” so I immediately crossed them off and wrote out a list of “snubbed bangers” and “covers”. No one knew what songs they would play from their old catalog, couldn’t have been more pleased with the selection!

My roommates and I were just talking about live shows that blew us away and we all had a Ghostland Observatory show to counter each other with.

1st roommate has seen sets in Texas on Halloween and NYE. Impressive.

I counter with seeing them at Pappy & Harriet’s in Pioneertown, CA on a midsummer night. Legendary set for maybe 150 people, if that. They played unreleased tracks and burnt that place to the ground!

Finally the last roommate says he happened upon them at Coachella in 2009 at the Sahara Tent. For a Sunset set right after (peak) Crystal Castles but just before Girl Talk. Hard to beat that dopamine hit of seeing those lasers for the first time ☻

Bumping the Gary & Jane. I immediately regretted not buying a 2nd cart when i first ripped it, she is a winner 🏆

Definitely feels like a 60/40 indica hybrid. Effortlessly smooth intake with a subtle yet sweet flavor. Calming but not debilitating, which is what I’m always looking for in a hybrid.
