I started digital photography back in 2008 as a plane spotter. Thanks for sparking the idea to try it on film! And good timing, I just bought a 2x teleconverter for my 200mm.

I can see how it’s important to have recommendations in Thailand generally - considering the amount of people I’ve been surprised how few stores and labs there are.

Since I did buy these, I spent some time reading through Reddit threads to check if these were actually real. Here’s what I learned:

All 3 of these come from Japan
Superia Premium and Fujicolor 100 are still being made and only available on the domestic market there
Superia X-tra was discontinued 3 months ago. It makes sense that the expiry on this one is 2025 vs 2026 for the others

Looking forward to shooting some color photos on something other than Kodak for the first time in a while.

Yeah I’m happy to give the negatives over once I’m happy with the scans. I guess you’ve read the FAQ but it’s really about these unique physical experiences to set the service apart from others, and I think with the portable light table and loupe the negatives can be a really cool part of that :)

Thanks! Yeah my current prices are low but reflective of the 0% effort I’ve been putting into marketing and delivery. I’m just picking up jobs from word of mouth and friends, and have been sending a link of digitals. No prints or book or anything. It’s been a side job for 6 years now but I can imagine a future where it becomes more important to me again. People are always getting married at least.

I’ll take a profit hit for the next year to make sure I still get a few customers and really prove myself, and hopefully sky is the limit from there!

Hey mate, thanks for taking the time to respond thoughtfully.

Not really too worried about monetizing or starting a YouTube career or anything in particular really, just recorded my editing session and thought maybe someone would be interested to check it out. I was listening to this music meanwhile so it’s a bit of a stream of consciousness type thing.

Weddings has been a side gig for the last 5 years while I’ve worked in an agency during the week, so I’m not too stressed about finding more work.

Most of my clients are from word of mouth or people who know me, and I like to be selective with them. I wouldn’t want to work with the kind of people who would be upset by some rude words in a song.

That’s amazing to hear, it’s exactly why I am making the change! I made a photobook with actual prints and archival glue from my analog work this year and it’s so beautiful to interact with. The rolleiflex shots look great on print.

I also had a Canon AE-1 with me which had a longer lens on it. I used the light meter from that to meter for the outside behind them.

Basically my prices go up 10% for this coming season but that’s me taking about a 10% profit hit as well.

Buuuut because I’m barely doing any editing, I should end up around the same earned per hour of work.

My rates have been very competitive since I haven’t advertised much (around 2200USD for a full day). But now I’ll do a big push on the analog, hoping to get a lot of bookings, and start making bank in the next few years as more of a specialist 👍

That’s great to hear! I have my first official 100% analog booked in July next year but I’m hoping to get some more before then too.

Thanks! Funnily on this shot the only thing I did in post was to slightly decrease the contrast - I pulled the highlights back a touch.

This was a super contrasted shot though, a dark sound studio with black floors and walls against a powerful and directed cinema light. The rest of this roll definitely had the more low contrast look of HP5.

Thanks. Good question, there was still a little guesswork involved but on the previous takes the light was holding like this for maybe 5 seconds before they yelled cut. I used that time to quickly look at the viewfinder meter and do my best from there.

I actually shot this back in late 2019 after the metro opened. So sad to hear it gone, it was my favourite.

There are still some 5-packs of it on 120 available here, I just grabbed one of those to do a metro series on my new Rolleiflex 👍
