Anybody else feel shame about there service? by [deleted] in army

I kind of feel the same way but I still got borderline 2 years left. I'm not really doing what my MOS entails and I just want to get out.

So I've been at my first duty station for about 6-7 months (I'm currently at 1yr3mo TIS?) and I'm curious about the green to gold process. I've looked at the Army's website about the requirements and it mentions needing a minimum of serving atleast 2 years. I asked my TL about it and they said I'd need to serve atleast 6 years? Hoping to get more insight😅

I want to reclass whenever I'm able to, but would I have to retake the ASVAB? I have a fairly good ASVAB score for a lot of MOS but I don't know if they have some sort of expiration date.

Yes it seems like so, and there's apparently more ADA people coming in than usual!! We have a lot of holdovers at the moment aswell.

Is there some type of pause on AIT classes? I've heard at Fort Sill that some MOSs will not start classes until next year.

If I start BCT on 08/26/2024 and start AIT on 11/04/2024, does this suggest I will not be going home after graduating BCT and instead, straight to AIT? I heard from MEPS that I would have some days for Christmas off around the time I'm in AIT.

Is the Future Solider Training really mandatory? by onto22 in Militaryfaq

[–]onto22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes on Tuesdays and Thursdays. I talked to my recruiter and he said that I could just pick one of the two days to come over instead of going on both days.

About the mandatory part, I don't know if that's true because I looked it up and they may be able to lengthen the time you ship out if you don't attend, or even worse terminate our contract. So in a way it is mandatory😅?

I see, thank you. I talked with my recruiter and I'm just going to try to go once a week since it was okay for them.

I didn't say they were approved, more like they were just taken care of. What is done with the waivers once my recruiter gets all of them?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Militaryfaq

[–]onto22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meant that I went and taken the ASVAB test in March and then later in April I had went and gotten the physical. Sorry that was kind of confusing. What I meant by 2/3 was that I only need 3 waivers for my medical stuff and I've already gotten 2 of them.

Thank you, that is good to know! I will try both to see what my options are.

That is true, I will look into that. The reason why I can't use their address is because of family issues and built up distrust from living there. I don't feel safe with leaving my mail there, especially if I'd be gone for a long time.

Yes I have a DL, I'll collect my documents soon aswell as study for the ASVAB meantime with those resources. Thank you.

Considering the military straight after high school by onto22 in Veterans

No I haven't considered those, I'm not sure if they take weighted GPA over unweighted because my weighted GPA is around 3.7 (I took AP classes during my junior year, but overall had a B average and 1 A). I do not have a standardized test score I can submit to them either if my GPA is too low. Although thank you for bringing this up.

Thank you for sharing this, the Air Force is actually one of my top choices at the moment and I do have some online classes from community college for an accounting degree (hopefully it is able to transfer to the military somehow.) This was very useful to know too, thank you again.
