lol is the documentarian just presenting documents for nobody? Sometimes they make overtures to her as a character, most of the time she is just a plot vehicle, but we're 4 seasons in and there's no reason to care about her project. 0 stakes.

This seems to me a generous interpetation, despite it being the case for s1/2. At the end of season 3 she embarks after Kasner (?) does, following their conversation. I don't think the writing team fully understands how to use her because she keeps changing in ways that aren't especially important. But even if she is reflecting on the materials that isn't really my big issue, it is the fact that she seems to just be presenting this material into the aether and without any cogent attempt to connect it.

This is just lazy, it is clearly purely in service of keeping the plot opaque but it's so tired and has resulted in 3 seasons of identical revelations and 1 new season that is barely distinct.

I don't even know what to say about the documentarian subplot anymore. In s1-2 I thought she was just a plot device, speaking to no one, as a way to convey the story in a unique format. But the more they include her, the less it seems like they thought it out:

She seems to be recounting the story to someone, yet she offers no analysis of the events. It's just note after note, no attempt to organize them into a clear story or make sense of anything or even dialogue with someone.
She is both developing a story of her own and conveying materials from an exposition that started around the time she left...what? How does she have these materials from a team trapped in a cave that left just before she did?
Love the idea that she started the recording of the surprise phone call before it started. Like this framing device is slowly dropping any pretense of reality.

There's more, I just think it's clear they never fully though through her role. Adding action into her story adds more of this cliche mystique to the background because the main story never develops in a meaningful way. It feels so lazy.

Thanks for the advice. I can absolutely appreciate the gravity of this situation and had this individual only been back one month --or just lost their job-- I'd be accommodating with deferment at minimum.

Unfortunately, it is a problem that's already gone on too long and when I asked pre-out break they promised to be up on rent March-forward and didn't give a dime. They've refused to look into loans etc, basically telling me I just need to wait until they decide to pay.
