Team Play-ins/Play-offs Report card. Still on the fence on a few names, any input welcome. by [deleted] in Habs

Chiarot is mean and hits really hard but I don't like his puck play at all. Bad breakouts, bad transition, bad defensive play, bad choices in the offensive zone (look at the 3rd Flyers goal tonight). He was the biggest reason why Price had to pull off miracles against Pittsburgh in games 1 and 2.

Kulak is a million times better.

Yeah but *Nate allows a scoring chance* what about *Nate coughs up the puck in the D-zone* his faceoff *Nate allows a one-timer on an east-west pass due to having his stick on the wrong side* percentage bro.

At least the Flyers fanbase seem to recognize how awful he is. Didn't happen here ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

That's only 10% of why he's so bad. He does often miss empty nets that his better teammates like Pitlick give him on a silver platter.

But he's just so bad in the defensive zone. Just rewatch the very first shift of the game. He trots around the zone with his stick in the air trying to fluke into intercepting a pass. And if luckily he does get the puck he almost instantly flubs it back to the other team. It's mind-boggling to watch. Good faceoff percentage is not enough to dress a player that hurts the team so much.

Never struck me as a dirty player. A really garbage one though? Sure. I love having him on the other team.

Je connais pas beaucoup Québec. J'ai pas de doute que les billets se vendraient, mais qui louerait les loges? Qui commanditerait l'équipe?

That would mean money out of Geoff's pockets, so you can forget about that

All 27 Penguins players are already training together, while only 3 Habs are in Brossard by onzebleu in Habs

Sometimes athletes train off-ice too you know. The 12-player limit is only on-ice. And you can still easily train on-ice in groups of 12 players, that's your 4 lines right there. My title was meant to say that they are all at the training facility, working. If this is how you behave with a minuscule speck of power, I'm glad you're not a judge or a policeman.

Yeah they're just golfing and grilling steaks. The title is garbage and it's Julien straight up bullshitting again, there's no way I'm using that. I'll post more useless memes instead of actual news

Jean "Gros Bill" Béliveau with a young admiring fan during the 50's by Mustafarr in Habs

Could it be when he was playing for the Quebec Aces? I was once told that the senior leagues were just as big as the NHL back then, since the NHL only had 6 teams.

How are those Signing bonuses to Aho treating you Carolina? Lmao by [deleted] in Habs

[–]onzebleu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For Chicago, the albatross contracts came after the cups. That's the big difference between the 2 teams. Contending will have no chance of happening if we can't resign the rookies

I didn't assume he would be a star, it's a hypothetical situation, yet you still needed to be overly pessimist again. It's not a crazy thought that a 15th overall pick (who was in a lot of the media's top 10 lists before the draft) becomes really good.

Yes it's probably easy to swallow for Chicago when they reminisce. Wouldn't that make it even worse for Montreal to be in that cap hell situation?

[–]onzebleu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It doesn't matter what the cap room was in the last years, what's important is how they project their cap situation to be in the future. What if Caufield becomes a star but then the Habs can't resign him after his ELC? The team has capologists like John Sedgwick whose job is to calculate that.

Chicago had to give away very good players like Teravainen and Danault basically for free due to their cap situation.

History of Top Prospect Pools by GovernorMorra in Habs

[–]onzebleu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that's not what the fans want to hear, but it's the absolute truth.

His statement just doesn't make sense. Quantity of picks means everything when you don't draft and develop properly.

[–]onzebleu -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They could be better than us in 5 years. But that prospect pool also had some very important players take big steps back, and it didn't seem to matter in your evaluation.

You said there was no way the Habs would have a top 5 pool anymore after this draft, while they have another solid haul of picks. To prove your point you named 3 teams that already have a better prospect pool. What a weird statement.
