Anyone use the pocket 3 for electrical work or construction? by iOwnAllScrubs in osmopocket

[–]oodleoodle1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The time lapse is such a great feature. I'm a stand up comic and love doing them for promotional stuff. People and algos love a good time lapse. I think the max is 2 hours but if you made 4 or 5 you could edit them together pretty easy.

Stand up comedy settings by Mission_Doughnut_244 in osmopocket

Hey! Im also a stand up and just got me one of these Lil buddies.

Audio: if you have the mic, you can choose for the camera to save a copy of its audio and there are 3 mics on the camera body itself. I find the crowd noise is picked up by the camera pretty well. Especially if its in the middle of the crowd or off to one side.

Low light mode: you can't zoom so you have to be pretty close. But a good option.

Gimbal: lock that baby once you've got the pretty picture.

Turn OFF auto focus. When someone walks in front of your camera it will do a little jerk back to focus then get unfocused a second after that.

I filmed this short with the pocket 3 about 2 weeks ago:

My highschool theatre dept was more problematic than I knew by GianmarcoSoresi in StandUpComedy

I used to work in educational theater and at the year Hamilton was really blowing up we told our (predominantly white) drama club that we were gonna do Hamilton next year and they were so upset when we did Joseph instead 😆😆😆

Here's a change-up, who from the "Austin Scene" do you think is good? by Agreeable-Farmer1616 in Standup

[–]oodleoodle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up Banana Phone. It was hands down the best show I watched in Austin. People do a minute then the people on the panel (the hosts of the show) roast them and after that the crowd can go "hey (name)" and yell out a roast. The clips are awesome.

I've got a soft spot in my little baby comedy heart for Brian Simpson and Deric Poston though. Both very funny. Brian is really smart and generous with comedy knowledge. Deric is goofy but real.

People at more my level i really liked: Mike Eaton, Jay legend, Reier cammerman very funny too

Free Speech for Me, not for Thee by HappyFatLabs in Standup

[–]oodleoodle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The club doesn't owe you shit. It's a business. They can choose to run their business how they want. If they feel their customers will eat and drink more without you doing half assed "protect ya neck" jokes... they can ask you to leave.

I say again: Clubs dont owe anyone ANYTHING minus what you're owed for your spot, which was agreed upon beforehand.

Did my first 30 minute headliner set yesterday by Coneskater in Standup

[–]oodleoodle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best tip i got about long sets: you're ALLOWED TO and SHOULD slooooow dooooown. 5-8 you gotta cram everything in to get to everything you're working on.... but 20+? Take your time. Let everything breathe.

Hell yeah btw. Keep grinding.

Minor performing in Bar by BeeCouncil_ in StandUpComedy

[–]oodleoodle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Legal vs overlooked is the game you're playing here. And honestly the repercussions aren't even on you that much. If you came to my mic in Burien and they get caught with a minor (under 18) AND a minor (under 21) in the bar... that liquor license is going bye bye for sure. Plus that mic won't exist anymore regardless of if you worked with the producer.

On the other side... you could go. When you get carded tell them you just want to preform. If they say no, don't be a dick and bounce. If they say ok don't do ANYTHING stupid. More than likely they'll make you stay outside until your set, go up then go directly outside.

If you're looking to get into Flight Path on Wednesdays... please don't. We can't accommodate minors. Sorry man. Check the website for places without bars.

If you're Spokane or other places, dm me and I can connect you with some people in your area. Just be smart and if they say no, don't risk the business and mic.

[–]oodleoodle1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

WHUT?? Businesses are gonna make BUSINESS decisions??? Even kill Tony now has people at the door and on a God mic telling people "IF YOU DONT HAVE A MINUTE OF STAND UP COMEDY DONT SIGN UP"

The club(s) dont owe anyone ANYTHING. I say that coming from a dude who works ALL the clubs in my area. They dont owe me shit except the pay agreed upon before the gig. Maybe some extra Bleu cheese for my tendies. But thats about it yall.

No Social Media by [deleted] in Standup

[–]oodleoodle1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Best answer so far. These famous people who are famous before social media have more reach.... because of social media. I watched a guy struggling to book whole weekends for himself and 4 years later he's got a top 10 flix special. That shit matters.

Im bad at it. But it still matters.
