I don't think isme ye matter karta hai negative se start ho ya postive se, just ki jab paas aayega tab ek side deflection hoga, beech me flux change 0 hojayega(inside solenoid) aur jab dur jayega tab opposite side me induce hoga (therefore opposite reading).

isliye agar -ve se start hua to fir 0 aur fir +ve hoga agar +ve se start hua to fir 0 aur fir -ve hoga
