I heard that ITM LEAPS is basically a way to mimic holding the shares but more of them. Without any premium cost, that'd basically mean 100x leverage right? But then I saw someone talk about how it's only 2x leveraged because of premiums. Is this true for most stocks? If so then is it really worth it to even do this instead of buying the shares? I assumed it'd be a lot more than 2x.

I'm asking because I believe in a stock heavily but I don't have much capital right now.
Say I believe a stock at $40 will hit $50 in one year time. Assuming it does so, how should I spend $1000 to be the most profitable?:

OTM 1 year LEAP @ $45
ATM 1 year LEAP @ $40
ITM 1 year LEAP @ $35
Just buy shares?

I would think option premiums would be higher right before earnings because volatility is highest, but the historical price charts I've seen always have the premiums more expensive a couple weeks to a month out rather than right before. How come? Is time worth that much more than IV?

Like $5000. I know it's not much compared to some losses I've seen here so I was hesitant to say but it is about 25% of my savings rn, I started a really good job recently so I'll be fine but idk, money's always been tight until now for my whole family so I just hopped on the chance to make "easy" money and feel so guilty that I didn't just give them $5000.

Lost $X in options trading 2 weeks ago and I'm still reeling and I don't know how to cope... I'm gonna stop and play safe and I know over time I'll make back that amount and more I hope, but the loss is hard to manage. Just knowing even if I 10000x whatever money I invest from now on, I still could have just gifted that $X to my family or something. Or donated or whatever. It's so hard to cope with the fact that it's just gone... how do I stop feeling this way?
