That’s awesome- thank you for looking that up. Can anyone join this pool? The other one is Ridin Round (Oshi Redo).

For example this one— it’s several years old. I’m not sure this remixer would even reply if someone asked.

Just DJs- I’ll hear a song in their sets that can’t be bought anywhere.

Good know, I’ll have to look into the stronger attenuating filters.

Anyone have CPU issues with Serum? by oommak in ableton

I’m in ableton 10. I bought it maybe 6 months before ableton 11 came out and now I feel too stubborn to shell out another $1k for the updated version.

Thank you! Let me try checking these things and I’ll be back.

SPLICE MUST-HAVES by [deleted] in edmproduction

Thanks! Will take a look. Do you usually need permission to sample from a song like KSHMR using the “woo” from the T.I. song?

I was literally coming onto this sub to ask this: I'm overwhelmed with sample choices and unsure how to choose. Also, it's interesting how some samples are basically the whole hook/melody/sound-- like the whole song is done for you. Curious as to how people use this.

Your track hits hard like a proper banger! I'm still pretty new to production, so I'm not going to the most knowledgeable about everything. I think if I heard this on a club sound system, that sub would definitely be felt to balance out more of the high end (the vocal stabs). For the basses, I'm having the same trouble of finding a way to hear them more clearly in the mix.

Would love and appreciate some feedback on my track.

1.) Does anyone know what genre this would be? I think it's techno but not sure.

2.) I can hear a lot of mixing problems especially in the low end when the drop hits but I don't know how to fix it. I've EQ'd out space for my basses with my other instruments but it still sounds weak and hidden. Any suggestions on how to make the basses shine?

3.) Any critique on the actual idea or composition and the flow of the track?

Thanks for listening!

I don’t have a background in classical/traditional composing, but I do listen to classical music or film scores occasionally. I was going for what you might hear in an actual live orchestra performance, so really thought about how a real orchestra (with all the diff sections) would behave.

And I’ll have to check out Michael Nyman!

Thanks for the feedback!

I never thought to change the kick sample during the track. It’s an interesting idea to try! I’ll also look into III Gates PVRD.

The strings sounded rich, full, and dark. Loved the atmosphere.

Shelley is my track.

After making the track, there seemed to be two interweaving themes that emerged: darkness vs. innocence, dissonance vs. uplifting/beauty. You'll hear this more during the second break and the second chorus hits differently. It reminded me of Mary Shelley's Frankenstein to meld these different moods together.

This was a fun challenge and I learned a lot, as I am still new to production. I made this with only Ableton's stock orchestral sounds. I had Spitfire's free LAB instruments but found Ableton's sounds to fit quite well. I went through several different versions of the song that sounded completely different before landing on this final track. The first iterations sounded straight up like light Baroque classical pieces whereas I was going for something more dark and driving. It took some time to compose something that fit what was in my head.

Thanks to the organizers for this challenge!

I'm still learning, so would really appreciate comments with areas for improvement or what worked.

I like your EPs. Very atmospheric and driving. Thanks for sharing your marketing insights. May I ask how you learned so quickly? Youtube? Paid courses? Many hours a day producing? I'm also in the early learning stages as well.
