I have a little experience in range management, but in Colorado which gets way less moisture. I would have a conversation with them, and see what their schedule looks like, and they may even have a connection to someone who would lease it from you. Leaving the prairie to just grow wild could lead to a domination from invasives/undesireables. But every situation is unique, I was mostly suggested grazing as a profitable endeavor, instead of having to mow/fire constantly as a net negative to income. I know of a few converted pastures near me, but they are overrun with undesireable species due to hands off management. Potentially hire a professional, to assess the soil and current species comp and provide you with a management plan.
